Giants Overcome Early Deficit to Post 11-4 Win Over Rangers

La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College scored four runs in both the third and fourth innings to overcome an early three-run deficit and the Giants' bullpen allowed just one hit and no runs in the final four innings to lift Keystone to an 11-4 victory over  Drew University in a non-conference baseball game on Wednesday afternoon at Christy Mathewson Field.  The Giants improve to 16-5 on the season with the win while the Rangers fall to .500 this spring at 14-14.  
 
Chris Triano (Greenwich, CT/Rye) went 4-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, Billy Nelson (Moscow, PA/North Pocono) and Alex Herceg (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) drove in three runs each, while Louis Reyes (Port St. Lucie, FL/Treasure Coast) and Nate Ross (Albuquerque, NM/La Cueva) collected three hits apiece for the Giants.  Nelson also scored three runs while Reyes extended has now hit safely in 22 straight games dating back to the last game of 2015 after collecting three singles on the day.
 
Drew scored three unearned runs in the top of the second inning, plating the game's first run on a fielding error by the Giants before Anthony Feltre hit a two-run double down the left field line.  Keystone got a run back in the bottom half of the frame when Triano scored on an RBI double to left center off the bat of Ross, cutting the host's deficit to 3-1.
 
The Giants four runs on four hits in the home third to take a 5-3 advantage.  Nelson hit a two-run double down the left field line to level the score before coming home on RBI base hit to center from Triano.  Herceg brought in Triano with an RBI groundout to give Keystone the two-run lead.
 
The hosts tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on three hits and one error to open up a 9-3 lead.  Julian Lanfranco (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) came home on a sacrifice fly by Nelson, Reyes came home on a fielding error on a ball off the bat of Ross, and Herceg followed with a two-run single up the middle to give Keystone the six-run advantage.
 
Drew got a run back in the visitor's fifth on a Michael Miraglia single, but the Giants countered in the bottom of the sixth when Triano doubled home Nelson to give Keystone a 10-4 lead.  Ross singled home Nelson in the bottom of the eighth to close out the scoring.
 
Keystone starter Danny O'Neill (Lake Hiawatha, NJ/St. Mary's Rutherford) improved to 2-0 on the season, picking up the win after being charged with four runs – only one of which was earned – on six hits to go along with three strikeouts in five innings of work.  Steven Moran (Yonkers, NY/Riverside), Jeffrey Ledesma (Yonkers, NY/Norman Thomas), Jack Simons (Great Falls, VA/Bullis School), and Jorge Peralta (Manhattan, NY/Indian Hills) pitched an inning each as the Giants' bullpen allowed just one hit in four shutout innings.  Moran, Ledesma, and Peralta picked up a strikeout each for the Giants, who outhit the Rangers by a 15-7 margin for the game.
 
Drew starter Davis Fouts suffered the loss after yielding five runs on five hits in 2.1 innings and the visitors turned to five relievers to get through the remainder of the game.
 
Feltre led the Rangers with two hits and two RBIs in the loss.
 
Keystone will be right back in action on Thursday with a non-conference game at Moravian College.  First pitch between the Giants and Greyhounds is listed for 4:00 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
