WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A back-and-forth game went the wrong way in the end for The University of Scranton baseball team as the Royals suffered an 11-8 loss to Catholic in the final game of the three-game Landmark Conference series.

The Royals (9-13, 1-8 Landmark) trailed 4-1 after four innings, then took a 5-4 lead with a four-run fifth. Catholic (20-6, 9-2 Landmark) came back to take a 7-5 lead with three runs of its own in the fifth. Scranton rallied again with four in the top of the seventh for an 8-7 lead, but the Cardinals had the final say with two runs in both the bottom of the seventh and the bottom of the eighth.

Scranton was led by junior center fielder Tommy Trotter (Cranford, N.J./Cranford), who had three hits, two runs and an RBI. Junior third baseman Brad Schneider (Ambler, Pa./LaSalle College H.S.) doubled, drove in a run and scored a run, and senior second baseman Patrick O'Dell (Phoenixville, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) also doubled. Senior left fielder Anthony Simone (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley Senior) added a single and two runs, as well.

The Royals will be back in action on Tuesday, April 11, when they host Wilkes in a non-conference game at 4 p.m. at Connell Park.
