The Baruch College Bearcats are on a four-game winning streak after sweeping associate CUNYAC baseball member the University of Maine-Presque Isle in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Kingsborough Community College baseball field in Brooklyn, New York.

The Bearcats posted scores of 7-2 and 10-0 to improve to 9-10 overall. The 2017 CUNYAC standings this year will go by overall record and not head-to-head to decide the postseason seeding.

In the first game, the Bearcats took control with a four-run fourth inning, highlighted by back-to-back run scoring doubles by Gilberto Mendoza, Jr. (1 RBI) and Dan Daley (2 RBI).  Daley stole home as part of a successful double steal with Donovan Hunt to account for the fourth run in the inning, which helped seal the victory on a warm day.

Ryan Smith earned the win with a solid six innings pitched with five hits allowed, one run (earned), two walks and nine strikeouts.

In the second game, three pitchers combined to pitch an exciting one-hitter. UMPI dramatically broke up a no-hit bid with two outs in their final at-bat.

Matthew Donofrio batted 3-for-3 with two runs scored in the lead off spot, while Hunt totaled four RBI in the shutout win.

Cameron Kitt (3-0) gets the win with a perfect five innings of no-hit ball with nine strikeouts.

The Bearcats will hit the diamond again tomorrow, Monday, April 8, with a rescheduled 3:30 p.m. road contest against Rutgers University-Newark at Newark Bears Stadium in Newark, New Jersey.

The two teams were originally scheduled to play on March 23, but it was rained out.
