LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Keuka College Baseball team lost a pair of games on Friday in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament to end their 2017 season.

Keuka College (17-18, 9-6 NEAC) lost the opening game of the day to top-seeded Penn St.-Abington 5-4. The Wolves then fell to Penn College 10-6 later in the afternoon to eliminate them from the tournament.

Alec Bowie (Sparta, N.J. / Sparta) had four combined hits on the day for the Wolves. John Rizzo (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) and Jake Redding (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) each added three hits.

Keuka College 4 vs. Penn St.-Abington 5 – NEAC Tournament First Round

In the opening game of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament, Bryan Johnsen (Otisville, N.Y. / Minisink Valley) was in control for the Wolves. He allowed only two hits over the first six innings to hold the Nittany Lions scoreless. Keuka College broke through in the fifth as they turned two Abington errors into three runs. Penn St.-Abington scored a run in the seventh and the game went to the final inning with Keuka College leading 3-1. The Wolves added to the lead as Dan Bamann (Rochester, N.Y. / Irondequoit) singled to score Jake Redding, giving Keuka a 4-1 lead. In the bottom the inning, the Nittany Lions led off with a walk and the run scored on a groundout to make it 4-2. A walk and two singles would load the bases for Abington. The Nittany Lions then worked three straight walks to force in runs for the 5-4 walk-off victory over Keuka College.

Lead Wolf: Jake Redding was a headline for Keuka College at the top of the order. Redding led the team and tied his career-high with three hits. It was the fifth time this season that Redding had three hits for the Wolves.

Keuka College 6 vs. Penn College 10 – NEAC Tournament Consolation First Round

Penn College scored the opening runs of the game in the second inning as the two teams faced each other for the third time in the last four days. The Wildcats led 2-0 going into the fifth inning. Keuka tied it up on an RBI single by Brooks Vertoske (Horseheads, N.Y. / Horseheads) and an RBI double by Alec Bowie. The tie game was short lived as Penn College scored three in the bottom of the fifth to re-establish their lead. The Wolves plated two runs as Dave Nuzzo (Manlius, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) and John Rizzo each had run-scoring hits, however the Wildcats answered with two more in the bottom of the inning. Penn College added to their lead and held a 10-4 advantage going into the ninth. Keuka College scored two in the inning but it was not enough as they were eliminated from the NEAC Tournament by falling to Penn College 10-6.

Lead Wolf: Junior Alec Bowie had a pair of hits and two runs batted in for Keuka College. He finished off his conference tournament batting .500 (4-8) with a double, run scored, and two runs batted in.

• Keuka College is 9-16 all-time in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament
• The Wolves last postseason victory came in the 2009 season
• Dakota Skinner (Waverly, N.Y. / Tioga) finished off his record-breaking season with a school record 58 hits. His .436 batting average finishes as the second-highest in a season behind teammate Rob LaRue's (Skillman, N.J. / Montgomery) .440.
• Dave Nuzzo added to his double total today against the Wildcats. The senior finishes the year with 11 doubles, tying for second most in a season in program history
• Bryan Johnsen lowered his ERA to 3.59 on Friday. Johnsen ranks sixth for lowest earned run average in a season. His 43 strikeouts was fifth most in Keuka College history
