OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball team avenged its loss in the 2017 NCAA Division III New York Regional to nationally-ranked No. 21 Oswego State, 3-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Laker Field to improve to 18-13 on the season. Oswego drops to 21-9 overall.

Oswego, which is ranked No. 21 in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Top 30 Poll and unranked by D3baseball.com, is the reigning New York Regional champions and earned a spot in last year's College World Series. The Lakers defeated Ithaca, 11-10, in the first game of regional play last spring.

The Bombers used a 4-for-4 effort at the plate by junior Sam Little and a dazzling performance on the mound by sophomore Tom Cosentino to come away with the one-run victory.

Cosentino, who was making a spot start this afternoon, tossed 7.2 innings for his first win of the year. He fanned three batters and gave up two runs on eight hits. Coming into today's game, Cosentino had thrown just 5.2 innings over five appearances.

S. Little drove in all three runs for the Bombers, highlighted by a lead-off solo home run in the top of the fourth inning. He also picked up an RBI in the first inning on a single, which drove in senior Domenic Boresta, and brought in the game-winning run in the seventh with a base hit to centerfield. Boresta, who went 2-for-5 in the game, also scored on that hit.

Oswego's first opportunity to tie the game came in the bottom of the third inning as the Lakers placed a pair of runners on base with singles. A fly out to centerfield, which turned into an unassisted double play, got the Bombers out of the jam.

In the bottom of the fifth, Oswego would get on the board on a sacrifice fly to make the score 2-1.

After the Bombers went up, 3-1, in the top of the seventh, the Lakers answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. A lead-off double came around to score on back-to-back groundouts to bring Oswego back to a one-run deficit.

Oswego threatened again to tie the game or take the lead in the bottom of the eighth by loading the bases on two singles and a walk with two outs. The bases loaded jam forced Ithaca to go to the bullpen, and entered senior Jack Morello, who preserved the lead with a looking strikeout.

Morello locked down the game in the ninth with a 1-2-3 inning for his first save of the season.

Junior Cam Fuoti and freshman Jack Lynch each went 2-for-4 in the victory, while juniors Webb Little and Andrew Bailey, and sophomore Chris Dietz also had a hit.

The Bombers head to the University of Rochester tomorrow night for a 5:30 p.m. contest and then host U of R on Thursday at 4 p.m.
