Gwynedd Mercy, Gettysburg Battle To A DH Split

GETTYSBURG, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy and Gettysburg split a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday with the Griffins taking game one, 12-4, and the Bullets winning the second, 7-0.

Game one
Dave Tatoian had three hits, Jason Mulvey scored three times, and starter Gino Tripodi struck out five with no walks in seven innings of work to help pace the Griffins.

Mulvey and Tommy Nardini each had two doubles apiece as GMercyU totaled seven extra-base hits of their season-high total of 19 in the game.

Down 3-2 in the fourth, Tatoian doubled home two runs with two outs to put Gwynedd ahead for good. The team scored three in the fifth and another in the sixth to go up 8-3.

Ryan Keen's RBI double and a two-run single from Billy Collins in the ninth helped to add some insurance runs.

Game two
The team was limited to just five hits as Gettysburg's Myles Burbank and Will Wortman totaled seven strikeouts .

Gwynedd however, looked to put something together in the fifth, getting the bases loaded with one out, trailing 4-0. Burbank got a pop up and grounder to end the inning.

Tatoian, Keen, Nick MulveyJosh Lopez, and Brandon Gray recorded the hits for the Griffins. Starter Nick DeRitis fanned six and walked just one as he threw into the sixth, but yielded five earned runs on 11 hits.

The team is back at it on Tuesday when they head to Kean.
