Gwynedd Mercy Sweeps Wesley In Atlantic East Twinbill

DOVER, DE. -- Gwynedd Mercy picked up an Atlantic East Conference doubleheader sweep at Wesley College on Saturday Afternoon as the Griffins took game one, 8-1, while shutting out the Wolverines 11-0 in game two.

Game one
Brian Wildrick allowed just one run on four hits with two strikeouts and a pair of walks for the complete game victory.

The team scored all of their runs in the first three innings. Leading 5-0 in the third, and RBI double from Tyler Brasier and later a two-run double from Satchel Sciarretta upped the lead to eight.

Wildrick held the Wolverines scoreless until the seventh, as Wesley scored on a groundout.

Sciaretta was officially 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Brasier added two hits while Justin Curtin scored twice.

Game two
Nick DeRitis would follow in game two, pitching six strong innings with five strikeouts to earn the victory. The bullpen of Matt CarterAlex KauppGeorge Stewart and Jeff Seigafuse would preserve the shutout.

Dave Tatoian would start the scoring in game two with an RBI and come around to score for the early lead. The senior followed that up with a double in the second inning to score Jason Mulvey.  Keen singled home Nick Mulvey to lead 4-0 after an inning and a half.

A seven-run third inning busted the game wide open for the visitors as the Griffins used just three hits, two walks, two hit batsmen and a pair of Wesley errors. Nardini's two-run double was the highlight of the frame, scoring both Mulveys.

The Griffins finished the the day with eighteen total hits.
