CLAREMONTJake Fredrickson hit a pair of home runs as the Occidental baseball team secured a series win with a 10-4 victory at Pomona-Pitzer in Game 2 of a three-game series on Saturday.

The Tigers rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth on an RBI-triple from center fielder Jack Brancheau, an RBI-single by shortstop Michael Ingram and then the first of Fredrickson's two homers.

With the lead down to 6-4 in the top of the eighth, Fredrickson hit his second two-run homer of the game, giving Oxy a four-run lead. Oxy catcher Jared Baur and right fielder Angelo Zorn followed it up with RBI-doubles to put the game out of reach.

Fredrickson finished the game an incredible 5 for 5 at the plate with the two homers, two runs scored and five RBIs. Ingram went 3 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs.

After narrowly escaping with a 9-7 win over the Sagehens on Friday, the Tigers put their foot on the gas pedal in the late innings, putting themselves in position to sweep the series in the afternoon game.

Diego Ramirez, Oxy's standout first year starter, gave up a three-run homer in the first and then settled in nicely, pitching seven more very good innings for eight total, with just one more run coming home to score. He threw strikes as he has all season, striking out six with just a pair of walks, and gave up just three hits.

Oxy second baseman Reid Gibbs upped his hitting streak to 21 games with a single.

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 18-9 overall and 6-5 in SCIAC play. Oxy is tied for fourth with La Verne.

Pomona-Pitzer falls to 14-11 and 4-10.

Next Game: The Tigers and Sagehens finish their series with Game 3 on Saturday afternoon and then Oxy will be back in action against Caltech next weekend.
