Kesytone Falls 7-3 to No. 7 Babson in NCAA Regional Opener

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Keystone College baseball team fell 7-3 to No. 7 Babson College on Friday in the NCAA Regional opener, hosted by Trinity College.

The Giants are now 25-15 and will face Salve Regina tomorrow at 11 a.m. in an elimination game. The Seahawks fell to the host Bantams 11-3 on Friday afternoon.

The Beavers improve to 34-7 and will take on Trinity tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. in the winner's bracket.

Overall, Keystone outhit the Beavers 12-10 as senior Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) finished 4-for-4 with two runs. Senior Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant) went 2-for-4 with one run and senior Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask)finished 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Freshman Devin Reed (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) went 2-for-4 while seniors Johann Paniagua(Bronx, NY/James Monroe Campus High School) and Ronald Medina (Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton)both drove in one run. Junior Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) went 1-for-3.

Sophomore Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned the start and suffered the loss, going 5 2/3 innings, striking out two and walking one while scattering seven hits and allowing four earned runs. Junior Zabdiel Parilla (Reading, Pa./Reading) threw 1 2/3 innings with one strike out while juniors Evan Plante (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers) and Matt Tarabola(Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) notched 1/3 inning each, with Tarabola recording a pickoff.

Trailing 4-0 in the sixth, McFadden stroked an RBI single to make it a 4-1 game. Paniagua followed with an RBI fielder's choice to cut into the Babson lead, 4-2.

In the eighth, Medina came through with an RBI single to right to make it a 5-3 contest. However, Babson went on to plate two runs in the eighth.
