Berry Baseball Closes Weekend With Series Sweep at Millsaps, Securing Unbeaten SAA Season

JACKSON, Miss. — Following an announcement from the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) that all conference competition would be suspended effective March 20, the Berry College baseball team earned a series sweep of the Millsaps Majors, effectively securing a 6-0 conference record.

The Millsaps College athletics department held a senior day recognition for both teams prior to first pitch. Berry's seniors: Jake CrandonQuinn SmithZach GuziBen CokerDylan SchoknechtZack Walch and Tyler Calvert were honored for their efforts. 

With the win, Berry improved to 13-5 overall including their unbeaten conference slate. 

Tanner Still earned the start, tossing 3.1 innings allowing no hits. Milan Sutaria collected his third win of the year, throwing 1.2 no-hit innings in relief. Senior Dylan Schoknecht also tossed 1.0 inning allowing just one hit and striking out a pair. Spence Johns (3-for-4) and Evan Romeo (2-for-3) recorded multi-hit games. 

Berry went ahead 2-0 heading into the home half of the fourth inning off a passed ball and a Jake Crandon RBI ground out. Millsaps went ahead 5-2 after the sixth inning, but the Vikings tied it in the seventh. Berry took the lead in the eight inning to secure the win.
