Site/Venue: Ashland, Va./Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park

How It Happened

  • The Sea Gulls scored twice in the top of the first without the benefit of a hit and added one in the second and two in the third for a 5-0 lead.
  • The Yellow Jackets would rally back in the bottom of the third. Bush had a leadoff single, senior Ryan Duphorn (Erial, N.J./Paul VI) walked and sophomore Ethan Iannuzzi (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Senior Mike Nickles (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) was plunked as well, plating Bush with the first run. With one away, senior Jacob Selden (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) grounded out to drive in Duphorn with the second run. Iannuzzi and Nickles both scored on wild pitches to make it a one-run contest.
  • R-MC would tie the game an inning later. Bush had a one-out base hit, moved to third on a double by Duphorn and scored on a groundout by Iannuzzi to level the score at 5-5.
  • Salisbury added a run in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh in claiming the 9-5 victory.

By The Numbers

  • Bush also had a stolen base for the Yellow Jackets.
  • Duphorn and Iannuzzi both had two hits and a run.
  • Senior Zach Radcliffe (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) was the only R-MC hurler to record multiple strikeouts. He fanned two in 1.1 innings.
