Lynx Drop Both Games to Elms 10-9 and 19-4

GAME OVERVIEW:

CHICOPEE, MA. – The Lesley Lynx baseball team dropped both games of their doubleheader with the Elms Blazers on Saturday, losing game one by a score of 10-9 and the second 19-4. Lesley falls to 1-3 this year, while Elms improves to 3-1.

INSIDE GAME 1:

  • Lesley jumped out to a quick 2-0, with Steven DePalma driving in arun with a productive groundout and Ronnie James doubling in two runs. Elms answered back with one run in the bottom of the inning.
  • The Blazers tied the game at 2 in the third inning, but both starting pitchers were solid ovre the first half of the game. Brett Dabrowski and Kyle Sebastyanski each allowed two runs before late game explosions from both lineups.
  • The Lynx scored five runs in the top of the fifth, thanks to a three-run double by DePalma, a sac-fly by James, and an RBI triple for Tyler Washington. Sebstyanski was chased from the game and the Lynx took a 7-2 lead.
  • After picking up one more run in the bottom of the fifth, the Blazers responded with a five run inning of their own in the sixth. AJ Cook drove one run in and Seamus Higgins drove in two in the inning that ended Dabrowski's day.
  • The Lynx went ahead late with two runs in the top of the seventh on a bases loaded walk and a bases loaded hit by pitch, but their one run lead was not enough. Elms scored two of their own in the bottom of the seventh to take the win, with a walk-off single by Cook ending game one.
  • Christian Rapoza took the late loss for the Lynx, while Austin Roy picked up a win despite allowing the Lynx to get ahead in the top of the seventh.

INSIDE GAME 2:

  • It was all Elms early in game two, as they scored ten runs in the first two innings on their way to nineteen total.
  • Higgins scored five runs alone in this one, while Austin Roy was 3-for-4 with five RBI and Domenick Whalen was 2-2 with four driven in.
  • Ian Spillane and Giovanni Torres had good games at the plate, with Spillane picking up three hits and an RBI and Torres getting two each of hits and runs batted in.
  • Josh Guilmartin got the win for Elms, allowing four runs in six innings pitched. Zane Mikula took the loss for the Lynx, allowing eight runs in an inning and two thirds.

The Lynx head to Becker for a doubleheader on Saturday April 10th, with game 1 starting at noon and game 2 following shortly after.
