Redshirt freshman Jake Porter went 7-for-9 on the day and St. Thomas Baseball recorded its second sweep of St. Mary's in as many days with Saturday's 13-0 and 7-1 victories over the Cardinals in Winona. Those wins came on the heels of Friday's home sweep of SMU by scores of 7-1 and 17-2.

The Tommies (8-3 overall, 3-0 MIAC) batted .404 over the four games with 56 hits and 44 runs. Their four starting pitchers allowed three runs (two earned), 10 hits and eight walks with 27 strikeouts over 21 innings.

Porter homered twice and went 5-for-6 with six RBI in game one on Saturday -- the contest that counted in the league standings. On the Toms' 5-0 week the Castle Pines, Colo., native went 12-for-20 at the plate with 11 RBI.

Freshman Max Moris went 5-for-9. Kyle Halverson hit a three-run homer in game two.

Four pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout in game one. Freshman Jack Blesch worked four-plus, and redshirt freshman Tyson Stritesky pitched 3 1-3 innings to get the win in the nine-inning contest.

Redshirt sophomore Chris Chiraboga threw five hitless innings to open game two and fanned eight with four walks. In two starts this week -- his first varsity college games -- Chiraboga pitched nine innings, allowed one hit, no runs and seven walks while striking out 18.
