TUCSON, Ariz. – The Edgewood College Baseball held on for a 7-6 win over Wesleyan University on Monday in Arizona, resulting in the third-straight win for the Eagles. Reliever Anthony Schatz induced a game-ending double play with the bases loaded, securing the one-run win for Edgewood College.

EAGLES 7, CARDINALS 6
- The Eagles (4-4) entered the ninth inning clinging to a one-run lead. The Cardinals loaded the bases as the first batter reached on an error, which was followed by a single and a walk. Schatz was not rattled, however, as he got the next Cardinals (2-4) hitter to ground into a fielders choice as Alex Prindle fielded a ball at first base and threw home to get the first out of the inning.

- The Eagles then won the game with Schatz inducing another groundball, this one for a game-ending double play. The ball hit off Schatz's glove and went to shortstop Ryan Ambrosy, who flipped to Jacob Slonim at second, who threw to Prindle at first to secure the Eagles win.

- Edgewood College built their lead thanks to a pair of three-run innings. Trailing 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth, Edgewood College plated three runs, two coming off a double by Slonim. Max Hoeser added an RBI double in the inning.

- Wesleyan battled back with runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but the Eagles took back the lead with three more in the bottom of the sixth. Prindle had the big hit in the frame, delivering a two-out, two-RBI single, plating Hoeser and Carson Richter. Richter finished the game 2-for-4, as did Slonim.

- A big reason the Eagles were able to build a lead early on was the pitching of Kyle Semrad. Semrad went six innings and allowed four runs, three earned. He struck out eight compared to two walks.

- Wesleyan scored two runs in the eighth inning to get back within a run, but Edgewood College was able to escape further damage as Will Mossa stranded two runners.

- The Eagles finished the game with 10 hits with eight different players collecting at least one. Seven different Eagles scored a run as well. Adam Cairo joined Slonim and Hoeser with a double for Edgewood College.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles have now won three-straight and are 2-0 on the Arizona trip. It was also the third one-run game the Eagles have played in this season after dropping each of their first two games of 2022 by a single run.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will look for their fourth-straight win tomorrow with another spring trip game. Edgewood College will take on Carthage at 10 a.m. mountain time, or noon central.
