Giants Sweep Kohawks on Monday

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Keystone College baseball team enjoyed a doubleheader sweep of Coe College on Monday evening in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

With the pair of victories, the Giants improve to 5-7 and will face Endicott College (5-1) today at 3:30 p.m.

Coe drops to 3-4 and will play Webster University (7-2) on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Game One: Keystone 7, Coe 6

Keystone trailed 2-0 in the first and led 7-2 in the sixth. Coe battled back with a four-run seventh but the Giants held on for the opening win.

Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) and Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) both finished 2-for-3, combining for four runs scored. Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) and Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) enjoyed doubles while Evan Fallwell (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) chipped in an RBI single in the sixth.

On the mound, reigning CSAC Pitcher of the Week Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned his third win of the year, as the righty tossed 6.2 innings with five strikeouts, nine flyouts, and four groundouts.

Brandon Valles (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) earned the one-out save, striking out the go-ahead run at the plate.

Game Two: Keystone 6, Coe 3

The Giants exploded for a six-run fourth inning to take the nightcap.

RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) launched a two-run shot and Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) followed with a three-run blast in the fourth to give Keystone a 6-2 lead. Gouldsbury finished 2-for-2 on the night.

Logan Lixie (Tamarac, Fla./J.P. Taravella) earned his first win of the spring while Patrick Adamski (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) came out of the bullpen and enjoyed the save, striking out the final three batters.
