Baseball Wins Fifth Straight With Shutout Of Elizabethtown

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College baseball team used strong pitching by four different Dutchmen to win their fifth straight on Wednesday afternoon on McGill Field with an 8-0 triumph over visiting Elizabethtown College.
 
LVC (10-5) got on the board with a successful double-steal in the third and added a run in the fifth with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. The offense broke open the game with a four-run sixth before scoring two in the seventh to set the final score. Elizabethtown (6-11) used seven pitchers on the day and left eight runners on base against the Dutchmen.
 
Inside the Box Score

  • Andrew Spaan earned his second win of the year with a strong four innings. He allowed just two hits and walked one. Michael Williams and Jacob Horton pitched two innings each and allowed seven hits in the four innings. Williams struck out three while Horton had two strikeouts. Brendan Landry struck out two batters in the ninth to close the game out.
  • Max Kaplan stole second and Andrew Miles stole home on the throw down to second with the first run of the game in the third. Kaplan walked three times in the game while Miles scored three runs, had an RBI single in the seventh, and walked twice.
  • Ryan Murphy and Jace Fetterman each had two hits and two runs scored. Ryan Petrucci knocked in two runs on a pair of sacrifice flies.
  • Nico Santoro had a big RBI double to left field in the sixth. In the field, he made a game-high five assists and two putouts.
  • The Dutchmen ended a three-game winning streak by the Blue Jays in the all-time series. It is their first win in the series since a 10-9 victory in 2016.

The Dutchmen are back on McGill Field tomorrow afternoon with a scheduled 3:30 p.m. first pitch against Saint Elizabeth University.
