Neumann Splits a Pair of One-Run Games with Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team split a pair of one-run games at Marywood University on Monday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action. The Knights took game one 3-2. The Pacers won the nightcap 4-3 in 10 innings.
 
Will Hart pitched the complete game in game one for his fourth win of the season. Over the 7.0 innings, he allowed two runs on five hits and struck out six.
 
Nick Glebocki led off the game with a walk and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Lopez for an early 1-0 lead. In the third, Colin Pollard reached on an error and scored on a sacrifice fly by Shawn Vega. Lopez followed with a double to score Glebocki and give the Knights a 3-0 lead.
 
The Pacers got on the board with a solo homerun in the sixth inning. Marywood plated a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull within one. The Pacers had a runner on second, but Hart was able to close the door and seal the 3-2 win.
 
In game two, Marywood scored first with a run in the third inning. Vega tied the game in the top of the fourth with a lead-off homerun. The Pacers plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 3-1 lead.
 
Vega hit his second homerun of the game, this time a two-run shot, in the top of the sixth to tie the game at three.
 
In extra innings, the Knights had two runners on base, but could not get a run across. In the bottom of the 10th, the Pacers took advantage of a Knights error and scored and unearned winning run for the 4-3 win.
 
Zach Mullins started the game and went 4.1 innings in the no decision. He allowed three runs on six hits and struck out four. Nick Colon pitched 2.1 innings out of the pen and allowed two hits. Brennan Hatala look the loss, going 3.0 innings and allowing the one unearned run on two hits.
 
Neumann (8-13, 4-5 Atlantic East) heads to Rutgers-Camden tomorrow for a non-conference match. First pitch is slated for under the lights at 6:00 PM.
