Dylan Maria Hits 3 Home Runs to Lead #16 Rowan over St. Vincent, 11-1

DAVENPORT, FL - Dylan Maria hit three home runs and Anthony Schooley had four RBI to lead #16 Rowan to an 11-1 win over Saint Vincent (0-5) in play this morning at the RussMatt Invitational. Junior Thomas Sullivan recorded the first victory of his career as he pitched six scoreless innings in the game that ended in the eighth with the 10-run rule in effect.

Sullivan, who is making his return after missing two seasons from Tommy John surgery, allowed just two hits and one walk, while striking out seven in the win. Charlie Russell finished out the game in relief for the Profs (3-1).

All of Maria's hits int he game were home runs as he drove in a total of six runs. Schooley went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored as he had two doubles on the day. Phil Sedalis was 2-for-3 with three runs and a pair of doubles as well.

The Profs began to break open the game in the bottom of the fifth with three runs starting with an RBI single from Schooley, to score Phil Sedalis, who led off with a walk.  Maria then hit his second home run in as many days, a two-run shot over the fence in left center which scored Schooley and gave Rowan a 4-0 lead.

Rowan continued that in the sixth inning when it exploded for five runs, with a two-run double from Schooley and Maria's second homer of the day, a two-run shot.

Pinch hitter Joey Bogart opened the inning with a walk and Cannon followed with a single, with Bogart scoring on a single by Sedalis. Schooley drove home Sedalis with his second double of the day and then Maria hit his third home run in two games, to drive in Schooley and give the Profs a 9-0 lead.

The Profs scored in their first at-bat as  Schooley doubled to bring home Sedalis, who singled and moved into scoring position on a passed ball.

Rowan will face St. John Fisher on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sanford Stadium in Sanford, FL.
