Ramapo opened the 2018 season with a 3-1 win over Susquehanna Saturday at Kean in non-conference action. Jerry D'Andrea worked eight innings in the win with eight strikeouts as he scattered six hits and walked two. Kevin Foulds earned the save in the ninth inning as he struck out all three batters he faced. Joe Maugeri led the Roadrunners offensively as he was 2-4 at the plate with one run scored while Matt Chemis finished 1-3 with two RBI. Bobby Grigas scattered five hits over seven innings of work for the River Hawks while he recorded four strikeouts and four walks. Sean Rodriguez worked the final inning for Susquehanna surrendering two hits and one run. Ryan Casey finished 2-4 with one RBI for the River Hawks.
Oglethorpe started a busy stretch of five games in three days with a doubleheader split against the visiting Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers at Anderson Field. The Stormy Petrels took a back-and-forth gome one by the score of 8-7, then fell 4-0 in the second game. The Petrels couldn't get anything going with the bats in the second game. They managed only two hits against Engineers pitcher Trever Bruno in the contest. The visitors scored single runs in the third, fourth, sixth and seventh for the 4-0 victory.
Kean picked up an 11-8 win over Susquehanna in cold, windy conditions. Daniel Chiusano earned the win in relief. Offensively, Frank LoGiudice was 2-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. For the River Hawks, Nick Berger was 2-for-4 with four RBI. In total there were 23 walks, six errors, 10 wild pitches, four passed balls and three hit batters in the contest.
SUNY Maritime picked up their first sweep of the season as the Privateers upended the Southern Vermont Mountaineers by the score of 8-2 and 10-0. In game one Maritime was led on the hill by senior Anthony D'Ancona, who picked up his second win of the year and 13th of his career as he sets a new program record for pitching victories. In game two Maritime sent sophomore Travis Bruinsma to the hill, who also recorded his first win of the year throwing four scoreless innings in the process. In relief on the day sophomore Skylar Graff picked up his first save of the year to pull him into a four-way tie for the program record in saves. Junior Matthew Buckshaw threw two scores innings, and sophomore Matthew Paghidas had a hitless inning as they combined with Bruinsma for the shutout in the second game.
In the 2018 RussMatt Central Florida Invitational Montclair State took two from Penn State Altoona at Lake Myrtle Park. In game one, the Red Hawks came out on top of a pitchers' duel, 1-0. In game two, the Montclair State downed the Lions 11-1. Montclair State manufactured game one's only run in the bottom of the first inning. Joe Norton led off the frame with a walk before stealing second and third. Ian Lynch's groundout to second scored Norton, plating the only run that the Red Hawks would need in their 1-0 victory. In game two five Red Hawks had two hits as Montclair State won wire-to-wire.
Earlham improved to 6-0 on the young 2018 season with a doubleheader sweep over Wilmington at Randal R. Sadler Stadium. Earlham posted a 6-3 win over Wilmington in Saturday's first game, and followed up by coming out on top 14-7 in a slugfest in game two. Earlham out a combined 30 hits off Wilmington over the two games, while Maroon and White pitchers recorded 15 strikeouts on the day. Earlham's 20 hits in Saturday's second game versus the Ohio Quakers was the most since charting 22 hits in a 20-11 win over Olivet College on March 8, 2017.

SUNY Old Westbury topped Baruch in the opener, 8-0, and settled for a 10-10 tie in the the finale from a windy Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, New York. Since 2010, Old Westbury is 13-2-1 versus Baruch, including 4-0-1 when they play at Baseball Heaven. The Panthers put game one away with a five-run sixth inning to settle the 8-0 final. Old Westbury scored four unearned runs following Baruch's costly two-out error by third baseman Angel Acevado. In game two the Panthers rallied in the seventh with three runs to tie the game at 10 before the game was called due to darkness.
Nichols opened the 2018 campaign with a 7-6 victory over Framingham State at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass. Sophomore Christian Naccari went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI, while senior Nick Roy went 2-for-5 with three runs scored to lead the Bison. Senior Cam Cook and sophomore Kyle Bouchard each went 1-for-4 with a run scored, while Bouchard also added an RBI. Sophomore Payton Habeger added a 2-for-3 day with an RBI, with freshman Nathaniel Cormier going 1-for-3 with a run scored in his first career game. On the mound, sophomore Andrew Charbonneau picked up the win in relief, allowing only one unearned run on four hits in four innings of work. Junior Danny Hayden earned a no decision in the start, giving up four runs (one earned) on four hits with a strikeout in three innings. Senior Jackson White pitched a perfect eighth inning, with classmate Vincent Amato earning his first save of the year while giving up a run on two hits with a strikeout in the ninth inning.
After picking up a 5-2 win over Louisiana College in the series opener Friday night, the Texas-Dallas baseball team finished the three-game ASC set with the Wildcats with a split. The Comets took Saturday's opener, 9-5, but dropped the series finale, 5-4. Ruben Renteria earned the win as he tossed 6.0 innings with four strikeouts. He gave up five earned runs on 10 hits. Tristin DerMargosian pitched a hitless 7th. Norman Cordova finished 2-for-2 with three RBI as one of six Comets with multi-hit performances. Carson Bolyer eraned the game two win with a six hit, two strikeout performace in sevven innings. Tyler Atkins came in for the two inning save. Deauton Delgado was the top Wildcat hitter with a 2-for4, two run, two RBI game.
Transylvania began its trek to the Gateway with a convincing win, defeating Benedictine 6-0 at GCS Ballpark. Competing in the first of three games held at the home of Webster, the Pioneers faced the Eagles on Saturday night. Multiple Pios enjoyed terrific performances as Transylvania raised its record to 3-2 on the season while extending its winning streak to three games. It was a night to remember for freshman pitcher Evan Hall, who recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts in six innings of work. Hall began his night with a foreboding dose of excellence, registering three of his 10 strikeouts in the first inning.
Behind a strong pitching performance from Josh Laffery and some late game offense, Widener got its spring trip to Florida off to a good start with a 4-0 victory against the Coe Kohawks. Lafferty pitched six shutout innings, allowing four hits and striking out five in picking up his first victory of the season.
Centre took to the road for a SAA series showdown with the Sewanee Tigers. In Saturday's conference-opening doubleheader, Centre won the first game 5-3 and then shut out the Tigers 4-0 in the second game. The game one starter, Nick Hoffman picked up his first win of the season for Centre, fanning ten batters across seven innings while scattering seven hits. Seth Hagan went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer at the plate in game one. Aaryn Chandler took the hill for the Colonels in the second game and had an excellent start, limiting the Sewanee offense to just three hits while striking out three Tiger batters. The Colonels couldn't bring home any runners until a major rally in the seventh gave the visitors four runs.

Geneva opened its season with a doubleheader sweep over Valley Forge, winning the first game, 20-1, and the second game, 12-6. In game one, Geneva broke the game open with six runs in the fourth inning and then ten runs in the fifth inning. Geneva got contributions throughout its lineup, as nine different players collected at least one hit. The Golden Tornadoes were led by seniors Tyler Pagaduan and Forrest Beighley, who both finished with three hits. Senior Dan Staub added two hits, including four RBIs. Freshman Garrison Wieland added three RBIs in his collegiate debut. Sophomore Josh Grant pitched two hitless innings, including two strikeouts, to pick up the win. In the second game, Geneva used a five run second inning to take control of the game. The Golden Tornadoes scored two more runs in the third and four more in the fifth to go up 12-2 to put the game away. Senior Joey Luciana led the way with three hits, including four RBIs, while Beighley had another three hits, as well as three RBIs. Pagaduan hit the first home run of the season for Geneva. Senior Vinny Howells, sophomore Jacob Poremski, junior Dillon Taggart, and Wieland all collected two hits. Senior Richie Rowe pitched the first two innings, giving up one run while striking out five, to pick up his first win of the season.
After dropping the first game of a three-game series against Texas-Dallas, Louisiana was set on flipping the series in their favor. The Wildcats split doubleheader with the Comets after giving up a lead in game one falling 9-5 but coming from behind to take game two 5-4. The Wildcats host Dakota State in a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday night at Billy Allgood Field.
Jonathan Iaione hit a home run and knocked in eight runs as the New York University opened up a three-game series with SUNY Canton at MCU Park in Brooklyn, and defeated the Kangaroos 13-3 in a game shortened to seven innings due to darkness. Iaione hit a three-run home run in the first inning to put NYU in front and the Violets never looked back. The senior also hit a two-run single in the third inning and cleared the bases with a double in the sixth innings to add to his career day.
Freshman Damian Yenzi hit a slow chopper to third allowing Chris Petrucci to score the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as Marietta downed Emory, 6-5. After allowing Emory tie the game, 5-5, with three runs in the top of the eighth and one in the ninth, Marietta stayed perfect on the young season on Yenzi's second RBI of the game.
