    The Bluffton University Beavers wrapped up their 2016 campaign by splitting a double-dipper with the Transylvania University Pioneers on Saturday, May 7. The Beavers won the opening game, 7-6, before they fell, 10-2, in the nightcap. Bluffton finished the season at 14-26 with a 9-18 mark in the HCAC, while Transy heads to the HCAC tournament at 21-17 overall and 17-9 in the conference.

Bluffton fell to 12-21 overall and 7-13 in the Heartland Conference, while Earlham upped its season mark to 24-10 and 13-8 in the HCAC.

The Beavers were able to complete the comeback in a 10-7 victory, marking the second time this year Bluffton was able to get the better of Defiance. The victory boosts the Beavers to 10-19 with a 5-11 record in the HCAC.

Austin Prosser (Galion) crossed the dish in the 14th inning of game one for a 5-4 victory and freshman Tanner Hamilton (Centerville) launched an eighth inning grand slam, capping a 12-10 victory over the Lions after nearly eight hours of baseball!

    For the second straight Tuesday, Earlham College used a scintillating pitching performance from freshman Walter Talcott to stymie the Bluffton University baseball team at Memorial Field. Earlham improved to 16-5 and 6-3 in the Heartland Conference with the 6-1 win, while Bluffton fell to 6-15 and 1-7 in the HCAC. Talcott went the distance in a 6-0 shutout just one week ago.
