LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Lyndon Department of Athletics has named Lisbon (N.H.) High and Colby-Sawyer College standout Tom White as its new head baseball coach. White will begin his tenure with the Hornets' program next week when his student-athletes return to campus for the 2013-14 school year.

"We are excited to have Tom join our coaching staff," said Lyndon Director of Athletics Chris Ummer. "His experiences as a student-athlete as well as an assistant coach at the Division III level will certainly be of benefit to our program."

Upon completion of his stellar career with the Chargers' baseball and soccer programs, White enrolled in graduate studies at nearby Plymouth State College where he graduated in August 2010 with a Masters of Education degree in Athletic Administration.

In his tenure at PSU, he spent three years as an assistant coach on the Panthers' baseball staff working primarily as the team's hitting coach and a recruiter. His contributions played a significant role in Plymouth's most recent 20-win season and runner-up finish in the Little East Conference.

Over the past several months, White has attended Salem (Mass.) State University where he has been working on a teaching licensure in the field of Physical Education. To broaden his coaching background, White has held the same amount of time holding the position of assistant varsity baseball coach at Reading Memorial High School where he teaches hitting and fielding fundamentals while providing skills assessments and improvement.

In addition to his coaching duties at Lyndon, White will also serve as a counselor and recruiter with the Lyndon Admissions Department.
