May 25, 2024NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Despite one final impressive showing from fifth-year senior Dylan Weber on the mound, the 10th-ranked Christopher Newport baseball team saw its season come to a close on Saturday afternoon when 11th-ranked Misericordia held off the Captains, 2-1. Weber struck out 10 in a complete game effort for the hard-luck loss as he finished out his season with a 9-2 overall record and 1.66 ERA.

May 24, 2024Senior Matt Myers (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth for the team’s first lead as the 22nd-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team pulled out a 6-5 win over Adrian in Game 1 of the Ashland, Va. Super Regional.

No. 10 CNU Drops Super Regional Game One in Pitchers Duel, 3-1, Against No. 11 Misericordia
May 24, 2024NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Despite a 44-minute rain delay in the top of the first inning, both starting pitchers were unfazed and put together a pair of outstanding postseason performances in the NCAA Newport News Super Regional opener on Friday afternoon as 11th-ranked Misericordia (37-9) nipped the 10th-ranked Christopher Newport Captains (29-11) in a 3-1 final. Sophomore Brandon Cassedy was the tough-luck losing pitcher for the Captains despite eight strong frames against the pesky Cougars lineup.

The Captains got a mammoth two-run blast from Justin Liakos to highlight the offensive production while Brandon Cassedy (7-3) earned a hard-fought win with six shutout frames on the mound.

May 18, 2024CORTLAND, N.Y. – Junior pitcher Ethan Marszalek (Katy, Texas/Seven Lakes) tossed a complete game to pitch the Washington & Jefferson College baseball team to a 3-1 victory over 21st ranked SUNY Cortland in an elimination game Saturday evening in play at the 2024 Cortland, N.Y. Regional at Robert H. Wallace '53 Field. Pitching powered the Presidents to a pair of elimination game wins on Saturday. Marszalek followed his classmate, Dante DiMatteo's (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) lead, as he matched him with his own complete game gem in the win over host SUNY Cortland. The win avenged W&J's 9-2 loss to Cortland in the opening round Friday.

May 18, 2024GRANVILLE, OHIO - Rowan fought off elimination in the NCAA Granville Regional, by rallying to defeat Hanover, 14-7, and will face #2 Denison in the championship on Sunday at noon. The Profs will need to defeat Denison twice to claim the title as the host team is undefeated thus far in the double-elimination bracket.
