NEW YORK, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University
Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Frankie Delgado
as head baseball coach.
Delgado brings to Yeshiva a wealth of prestige and experience in
baseball. His coaching experience includes serving as assistant
coach for the Rockland Boulders, a professional baseball team in
the Canadian American League, in 2014 and Newark Bears professional
baseball team of the Atlantic League in 2013. While with the
Boulders and Bears, Delgado helped coordinate team tryouts, scouted
and developed players.
Delgado has also served as assistant baseball coach for Riverdale
Kingsbridge Academy High School from 2013-14. He was also head
baseball coach for Torre Baseball Training, a baseball training
facility, in Ridgewood, N.J., from 2011-13.
Most recently, he served as director of coaches for Tribeca Travel
Sports, a youth baseball program run by WFAN's Craig Carton, during
the summer of 2014.
In addition to coaching, Delgado's experience includes playing
professionally. He was a team member of the Roswell Invaders of the
Pecos League in 2012.
"It's an amazing opportunity and I intend to make the best of it
and help the Yeshiva baseball program get to the next level," said
Delgado. "I am looking forward to the challenge ahead, and I know
with hard work and dedication, the program will flourish."
Delgado is a 2010 graduate of Purchase College where he was a four
year member of its baseball team.
"Frankie will bring a lot of energy to this team and will be able
to build this team through a focus on the fundamentals and an
increased emphasis on recruiting," said Yeshiva University Director
of Athletics, Joe Bednarsh. "I'm excited to see him take the
reins and put his stamp on this program."
Yeshiva's 2015 baseball team is tentatively scheduled to get
underway on Sunday, February 22 with a doubleheader at Stevens
Institute of Technology.
