University of Dallas baseball assistant coach Joe Myers has been selected to lead the Crusaders as interim head coach for the 2014-15 academic year.

In charge of the pitching staff for nearly four seasons, Myers has helped the navy and white to a 4.77 earned run average in his tenure.

Previous head coach Fraser Holmes ('08, '14) exited his alma mater with a 102-101 record to his name in five seasons.

The Crusaders will look to once again qualify for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) championship tournament, after just missing it with a 20-23 (7-11 SCAC) mark in 2014. The team has made a postseason appearance in two out of three seasons since joining the league.

Prior to Dallas, Myers coached at Spring Arbor University (SAU) under Sam Riggleman as assistant pitching coach and assistant recruiting coordinator.

A native of Michigan, Myers played collegiate baseball at Spring Arbor University (Mich.) from 2003-08. Appearing in five seasons with the Cougars, he split time between first and third base before becoming a starting pitcher in his junior year.

Myers graduated from SAU with a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing/Management, and currently resides in Irving, Texas, with wife Christie.
