Two by sea - Maritime splits

SUNY Maritime and Mass Maritime opened their 2015 campaigns on Thursday afternoon against each other at the Bob Gladwin Complex. The Privateers and Buccaneers split the doubleheader with New York picking up the victory in the opener, before Massachusetts earned a close decision in the night cap.  SUNY Maritime won the opener by the score of 5-2 as the win marked the first career win for first-year head coach Charlie Barbieri. In the second game, Mass Maritime won 2-1.

Concordia-Moorhead brought their bats to the ballpark. Against Hanover, the Cobbers took the game 12-10.  In a second game, the runs continued to add up with a 11-0 win over Cleary to move to 5-0 on the young season.

Alma stayed unbeaten with a sweep of Lyndon State.  In game one, the Scots used a four run seventh to break open a tie ball game enroute to a 7-3 win. In the nightcap, Alma defeated the Hornets 6-0. Matt Launstein earned the game one win with four innings of relief. Jean Soucy earned his second win of the season, allowing two hits in six strong innings.

 

In their first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) doubleheader of the season, the Cal Lutheran baseball team took game one 4-2 before falling 9-4 in the second game at Ullman Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Beneath gray, rainy skies the No. 8 Cal Lutheran baseball team returned to action against Puget Sound of the Northwest Conference. The home team took the only game of a scheduled doubleheader by a score of 7-3 despite heavy rains falling over the last three innings.
