FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State University has named Kevin Barnaby as the 12th head coach in the history of the baseball program. The announcement was made by Sue Lauder, Director of Athletics at the University.

"I look forward to working with Kevin again and I am excited to have him bring his baseball experience to Fitchburg State.  I look forward to working with him as he leads the program and develops our student athletes.  I have high expectations for the future of the baseball program." Lauder said of Barnaby.

"I want to express a culture of winning, while maintaining success on and off the baseball field as well bringing a seamless transition in the program as I have prior knowledge of some of the players as well as the campus and facilities with giving campus tours when I was an assistant coach here at Fitchburg State in 2013." said Barnaby. "I want to give back to the area through community outreach and differentiate myself by helping out and giving back to the local community."

Barnaby takes over the reins as the head baseball coach at Fitchburg State after serving as a volunteer assistant baseball coach at the University of Massachusetts Lowell this past season where he was the outfield, hitting and first base coach, while also the head coach of the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs of the Future Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) during the 2014 season.

Prior to being an assistant baseball coach at Fitchburg State, Barnaby was the head coach of the Leominster Legion baseball team during the 2012 season, while serving as the pitching coach from 2009-2011.
