Howard wins 200th at Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College won a pair of non-conference baseball games against Baptist Bible Wednesday at Bowman Field. The Wildcats won the first game 6-3 and took the nightcap 5-3. Penn College improved to 7-12, while the Defenders fell to 2-12.

Penn College skipper Chris Howard won his 200th game with the win in game one.

In Game One,
Evan Vigna gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a RBI single that plated Jeremy Rall. Baptist Bible tacked on two runs in the third before Penn College answered with four runs in the fourth inning.

Vigna hit another RBI single, Zach Weil followed with a two run double and Cole Weachock knocked in a run with a single.

The Defenders added another run in the fifth and Weachock brought in the final run with a triple in the sixth inning.

Vigna finished 3 for 4 and 2 RBI and Wachock was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.

Matt Demilio improved to 1-1 after firing five innings, scattering four hits, one strikeout, two walk and two earned runs. Zach Junk worked the seventh inning to pick up the save.

In Game Two,
Weil got things going in the first inning with a RBI single to centerfield, while Ryan Hostrander (2 IP), Tyler Cooklin (2 IP) and Jed Blankenhorn (1 IP) combined for a no-hitter through the first five innings.

Penn College added three runs in the fifth inning on a Rall triple, Noah Esposito's single and a Lorenzo Marefka double to center to take a 4-0 lead.

Baptist Bible brought in two runs in the sixth and one in seventh inning, while Vigna stroked a one run double in the sixth for Penn College.

Vigna, Weachock and Dylan Scaringi each recorded two hits for the Wildcats.

Hostrander earned the win for Penn College and Junk picked up his fourth save after 2/3 innings of work.

Penn College returns to action Saturday, 1 p.m., hosting Gallaudet.
