The Dominican University baseball team finished off a doubleheader sweep of the Maranatha Baptist University Sabrecats with a combined no-hitter in an 11-0 win in game two after taking game one, 5-0.  The wins push the Stars to 13-17 on the season with four series remaining on the 2018 season.

Quentin Hayes, Kanoa Ikeda-Flynn and Dan Defino combined in the no-hit effort.  Hayes threw a pair of 1-2-3 innings to open the game before passing the ball to Ikeda-Flynn for the third.  The sophomore left-hander racked up three strikeouts over the next three innings with one walk before Defino pitched the final two innings, surrendering two walks.

Offensively, the Stars managed 11 hits and pushed across six runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Matt Segovia sparked the big inning with a two-run home run after Colin Janison was walked to start the inning.  The Sabrecats then issued enough free passes to bring the inning back around to Janison who picked up just the second hit of the inning, bringing in the final two runs of the frame with a single up the middle.

Janison and Segovia each went 2-for-3 at the plate in the win, combining to drive in six runs.

Earlier in the day, Brandon Diedrich picked up the win in a 5-0 staff day victory for Dominican. Diedrich pitched the middle three innings of a seven-inning game, limiting the Sabrecats to just one walk while striking out two.

Segovia was again 2-for-3, driving in two runs in the winning effort.

Dominican returns to Boomers Stadium on Saturday, returning to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play against the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. First pitch of the twin bill is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
