| The Washington & Jefferson baseball team withheld a comeback attempt from Mount Union tonight in nonconference action to pick up an 8-7 victory over the Raiders at Ross Memorial Park. After earning today's win, the Presidents improve to 27-10 overall. Mount Union, on the other hand, falls to 20-14 on the season. SUNY Old Westbury put together an eight-run sixth inning Wednesday afternoon to fuel a 11-5 Skyline Conference Championship first-round win over the sixth-seeded Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (17-21) from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. The third-seeded Panthers (21-14-1) improve to a 16-3 overall mark and hold a 2-0 record in postseason meetings against the Dolphins dating back to the 2011 campaign. With the win, Old Westbury advances to the Skyline double elimination round hosted by the top-seeded Farmingdale State College. The Panthers last appearance in the double elimination round was in 2016 and will travel Friday to Farmingdale, New York to take on the second-seeded United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (27-9) from Rams Field. Host Farmingdale State will play Maritime who defeated St. Joseph's (l.ong Island) 10-9.

| After losing the opener, 9-4, Illinois Wesleyan battled back for an 8-3 win in game two to split a doubleheader with North Park on Wednesday at Holmgren Athletic Complex in Chicago. No. 10 College of Wooster baseball team strung together three lengthy at bats to pull away from Wittenberg 14-4 in game one, while the Tigers held on in game two to take Wednesday's nightcap 8-7 at Art Murray Field. Wooster (23-9, 12-2 North Coast Athletic Conference) capitalized on extra hitter-friendly conditions with seven long balls on the day. Wooster out homered Wittenberg in each of the two games as the Tigers hit four out on the day.
Cal Aldridge belted his team-leading 13th home run of the season, 46th of his career, in UW-Whitewater's 7-3 game two victory over Ripon Wednesday afternoon in Whitewater. Aldridge is now one homerun shy of tying the career record of 47 set by Pat Tobiasz, 1995-1998. The Warhawks lost game one of the doubleheader 3-1. UW-W, 26-9 overall and ranked 16th in the latestTop 25.
In the final home game of his collegiate career, Johnson & Wales pitcher James Smiegocki turned in perhaps the best performance of his career. He threw a complete-game shutout as the Wildcats defeated Anna Maria, 7-0, in the first round of the GNAC Tournament on Wednesday. The win advances the Wildcats to the double elimination portion of the GNAC Tournament. Johnson & Wales travels to Saint Joseph's (Me.) for a 4 p.m. contest on Thursday. The Lambertville, NJ native only surrendered five hits with a career-high 10 strikeouts. Smiegocki did not allow a runner to get past second base the entire day.
Benedictine used a five-run fifth inning to score a non-conference win at Carthage and continue to bolster their resume looking towards a potential NCAA bid. Nine players recorded hits as Benedictine finished with 11. Jack Feeley has now reached base in 25 straight while holding down a 24-game hitting streak. The game was the final home contest for Carthage (17-20), who is one of just two non-conference opponents that Benedictine has played to own a losing record this season. Benedictine (23-12) hosts Concordia Chicago in the final conference games of the season on Saturday afternoon. Concordia Chicago is the consensus #1 team in the nation.
Junior outfielder Ryan Duphorn scored four times and junior third baseman Mike Nickles drove in four as 23th-ranked Randolph-Macon defeated second-ranked Christopher Newport 8-2 on Wednesday afternoon. Junior right-hander Matt Nickles earned the win, going the first two innings with three hits, one run, one walk and one strikeout to level his record at 3-3. R-MC had seven relievers each throw one inning, and the final six tossed scoreless frames. Senior Patrick Solomita fanned three in a hitless fourth. Sophomore right-hander James Womack set the Captains down in order in the fifth. Senior Daniel Lachance retired three straight in the seventh. Sophomore Zack Radcliffe allowed one hit and struck out two in the eighth. This is the fifth time CNU was held to under five runs in the season.
Elizabethtown got a quality start out of Joseph Sarich and Justin Cherry went the final three innings to earn the save as the Blue Jays beat Drew, 8-3. Mike Christy hit two triples and Riley McGinley had a game-high three RBIs for E-town. Elizabethtown's one through seven batters each had at least one hit, led by McGinley's three and multi-hit efforts from Andrew Fisher, Anthony Knight, and Christy.
With only a rescheduled Senior Day remaining on the calendar, New Jersey City University won their final road game of the 2019 season, junior left-handed pitcher TJ MacFarland and sophomore righty Gavin Niland combined on a five-hit shutout as NJCU blanked SUNY New Paltz, 5-0, on May 1. MacFarland was dominant on the mound as the southpaw tossed 7.1 shutout innings, limiting the Hawks to just four hits and four walks, while fanning three for his first win as a Gothic Knight (1-2) in his first season at NJCU. The Gothic Knights (15-22) snapped a six-game slide, sending New Paltz (13-19) to defeat on its Senior Day.
Juniors Pat Beaton and Will Sylvia tallied four of Bates' six hits in a 19-7 loss at No. 3 nationally ranked University of Southern Maine Wednesday night. Beaton finished the game 2-4 with a run scored, a triple and four RBIs. Sylvia (Newton, Mass.) went 2-5 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI. Junior captain Jack Arend also had a solid day for Bates (17-14), going 1-3 at the plate with a pair of walks. Junior Kyle Carter went 1-1 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk. Sam Troiano paced the Huskies (29-5) at the plate, finishing the game 4-5 with four runs scored, two home runs and six RBIs.
Junior RHP Andrew DeRoche improved to 6-2 with six scoreless innings to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-0 victory over the visiting Union College Dutchmen in action this evening on Murren Family Field at DiBenedetto Stadium. Trinity, playing in its final home game of the regular season and capping off a 14-game home stand, improves to 26-7. The Bantams close the regular campaign with a road doubleheader at Wesleyan on Sunday at 2 p.m. Union drops to 14-20 with its eighth loss in a row heading into a noon doubleheader at Skidmore on Saturday.
Brady Cottom lined a two-out, two-run double to left center in the bottom of the eighth inning giving Marietta a 10-9 non-conference win over rival Muskingum University Wednesday evening at Don Schaly Stadium. The Pioneers move to 18-19 on the season, while the Muskies fall to 11-24 overall. Cottom's double capped a three-run inning for the Etta Express that turned a 9-7 deficit into the one-run victory. A costly error by the Muskies, one of six they committed in the game, got the Marietta rally started.
