BANGOR, Maine - After becoming the winningest coach in program history with his 284th career victory, head baseball coach Jason Harvey announced that he would be stepping down from his role on Thursday morning.

Harvey wore multiple hats for Husson Athletics, not only as the dedicated head coach of the baseball team for twelve years, but also as the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Game Management.

"We are very sad that Jason will be leaving us," reflects Director of Athletics Frank Pergolizzi. "He has made a significant contribution to both the baseball program and the athletic department during his time at Husson. The young men who have had the opportunity to play for him are very fortunate. We wish him and his family the very best."

Over Harvey's twelve-year span, he successfully led his team into postseason action eleven times, winning two North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championships, one North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship, one NEAC East Regular Season Title, and two NCAA DIII Baseball Tournament appearances. This past season, he picked up another big victory winning the NAC Championship Tournament on his home turf to finish his remarkable career as a longtime Eagle on a high note while also becoming the second coach in program history to reach 500 games at the helm of the program.

Harvey joined the Husson family long before stepping foot on the Alfond Diamond as the skipper in 2008. He was a three-sport standout for the Eagles, graduating in 2007, after a competitive run as one of the most talented and hardworking male student-athletes that Husson University Athletics has ever seen. He was honored for all of his hard work in 2012, after being inducted into the Husson Sports Hall of Fame for his contributions as a player to the baseball, men's basketball, and men's golf teams.

A family man, Harvey had the opportunity to play and coach alongside his older brother along with mentoring three younger siblings on the Alfond Diamond throughout his career. After 18 years as a member of the Husson Eagles family, he will leave a lasting impact with hundreds of teammates, players, and coworkers.

Harvey left with a heavy heart and a few parting words, "It is with great sadness that I step away from Husson, but due to personal matters this is what is best for me and my family at this time. I want to thank the University, Athletics Staff, Coaches, current and former players for all they did for me during my time at Husson. I was blessed to coach alongside some great coaches who have made a great impact on my life to this day.  I was fortunate enough to coach a large group of fine young men during my time here at Husson and I am thankful that they gave me dedication, commitment and love to our baseball program. Husson is a great place with a lot of great people. The baseball program has been a second family to me, my wife and kids and it will truly be missed by all of us."
