Falcons choose Manfredo

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State University Director of Athletics Matthew Burke announced the appointment of Shawn Manfredo as the school's next Baseball Head Coach.

"We are thrilled to have Shawn at the helm of our baseball team." expressed Burke. "His wealth of baseball knowledge as well as his energy and enthusiasm made him the ideal choice to lead the Fitchburg State program. It was apparent early in the process that he genuinely cares about the student-athlete experience and seeing them grow."

Manfredo comes to Fitchburg State after serving as the Associate Head Baseball Coach at UMass Dartmouth for the past nine season. During his tenure, Shawn's primary responsibilities included recruitment of players, overseeing the pitching staff, creating and running up-to-date and relevant drills, monitor academic performances and writing related scouting reports on teams and prospective players.

"I am humbled and honored to take the reins of such an established program." said Manfredo. "I'd like to thank AD Burke and the search committee for this opportunity. My family and I are very excited to be part of the Fitchburg State University community and I look forward to building on the great momentum the Falcons have. I'm eager to get to work."

In addition, Manfredo also served as an assistant coach of the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League from 2015 through 2018. Shawn began his coaching career as the head coach of Brunswick High School freshmen team during the 2005 season before being named the head coach of the Merrimack High School freshmen baseball team for the 2007 season.

Manfredo was promoted to assistant coach of the Merrimack High School varsity baseball team for the 2009 season before accepting the Associate Head Coaching position at UMass Dartmouth in 2011.

Shawn graduated from Plymouth State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree Business Administration.
