Gordon College Athletics Director Jonathan Tymann has named Todd Alford the new head coach for the Fighting Scots baseball team after serving as the pitching coach for the past four seasons under former head coach Rob Mansfield.

Bringing with him more than 25 years of coaching experience, Alford is a nationally certified instructor for Baseball Think Tank which is an elite organization who holds pitching, hitting and coaching clinics throughout the United States. He has also coached at DIII powerhouse Tufts University during the 2015 season before joining the Fighting Scots' coaching staff in the summer of that year. Most recently, Alford served as the head coach of the North Shore Navigators who play in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

"I am so grateful to be coaching baseball here at Gordon College," said Alford. "Personally, it's been a long journey to get back to coaching at the collegiate level. I will always be thankful to Coach Rob Mansfield for brining me in as his pitching coach and setting the stage for this opportunity. We have a great group of guys coming back this year as well as a great incoming freshman class. I am excited to get these kids on campus and get to work. I am looking forward to an awesome season for Gordon Baseball."

Alford is a well-traveled baseball mind after having been a collegiate player at South Alabama of the Sun Belt Conference. Following graduation, Alford became the head baseball coach and athletic director at Wallace Community College in Selma, Alabama. Alford won state and regional championships, while also winning awards as the Alabama and National Coach of the Year in the junior college ranks.

Said Tymann of the hire, "I am thrilled for our baseball program and our department to have Todd join us in a full time capacity as our next head coach. Todd is extremely passionate about baseball but even more importantly has a deep desire to faithfully influence and mentor our young men. He has done a wonderful job as our pitching coach over the years and we are excited to see him continue to grow the program.
