Shank named ENC head coach

QUINCY, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College Director of Athletics Dr. Brad Zarges has announced the hiring of Chris Shank as the 14th head baseball coach in program history.

Shank arrives after a two-year stint at head baseball coach at New England College from 2017-18 where he guided the Pilgrims to a 50-45 combined record and two-straight North Atlantic Conference finals appearances.

"I am excited and honored to be selected as the next Head Baseball Coach at Eastern Nazarene College. I am proud to join such a complete institution that values their service to God and the community, while pursuing excellence in all that they do," said Shank. "It was clear after spending time on campus that Eastern Nazarene is truly a special place. I would like to thank President Jack Connell, Athletic Director Brad Zarges, and the entire search committee for entrusting me to lead, develop, and guide the ENC baseball program moving forward."

Prior to New England College, Shank spent six years as an assistant coach on collegiate-teammate Scott Loiseau's staff at Southern New Hampshire. He helped the Penmen capture the 2014 Northeast-10 championship and an NCAA College World Series appearance in 2012.

A graduate of Franklin Pierce, Shank assembled a stellar collegiate career culminating in the Oakland Athletics drafting him in the 23rd round of the 2002 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. Shank garnered first team All-Region, All-New England, and All-Northeast-10 Conference honors as a junior while also being tabbed the Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Year.  In 2013, he was inducted into Franklin Pierce Hall of Fame.

Earlier this fall, Shank joined the ENC Admissions staff and will retain his position as Coordinator of Athletic and Regional Recruitment.
