Misenheimer, N.C. – After nearly five seasons with the Pfeiffer University baseball program, head coach Jordan Stampler has resigned his post to join the staff at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.
As an assistant coach, Stampler helped lead the Falcons to a Conference Carolinas Championship Game appearance in 2016 despite entering the tournament as the number six seed. Pfeiffer upset top-seed Erskine and came within one game of advancing to the NCAA Tournament. In 2017, Stampler assisted as the program made another Cinderella run in the conference tournament. In the opener, Pfeiffer defeated the No. 1 seed and top-ranked team in all of Division II, Mount Olive by a 9-2 score.
In 2018, during the Falcons first year of NCAA Division III competition, Stampler led the program to a record of 31-7. This was good enough for best regular season record in the first year of play in the USA South. The 2018 Falcons set multiple school records, including team batting average (.348) team on base percentage (.447) and winning percentage (.775).
In 2019, Pfeiffer captured the ECAC Division III Championship with a 9-7 win over Grove City College, finishing the year with a 30-8 record and a 17-6 mark in USA South play. Stampler helped Falcon great Nick Richmond to a career year as well as helping him find a place in the illustrious Cape Cod Collegiate Summer League. Richmond was soon offered a contract by the Detroit Tigers, choosing to forego his senior year, and begin his professional career.
"During my time at Pfeiffer I had the chance to grow as a person, and coach," said Stampler . "Being hired by Dusty Blake and having the opportunity to learn under him was incredible. Him giving me the role of recruiting coordinator and the ability to have autonomy over the offense and defense really allowed me to grow and develop as a coach," he said.
Stampler continued, "The coaching staff I had the chance to work with throughout my time at Pfeiffer truly made me a more well-rounded person and I know they were a big reason in why I loved showing up to "work" every day. The relationships that I've built with the players that I had the chance to recruit and/or coach will undoubtedly last a lifetime. Those men help mold me into the coach, friend and husband that I have become. I will continue to communicate with them throughout my coaching career and life as they have left an everlasting impression on me."
Pfeiffer Athletics Director Danielle Lafferty said that Stampler was a key in building a winning program at Pfeiffer. "We were lucky to have had Jordan begin his head coaching career here at Pfeiffer. He helped to continue to grow the culture and traditions of our baseball program. Campbell is lucky to have Jordan join their staff as his work ethic and passion for the game is unmatched."
Stampler has coached several others who have gone on to play professionally. Kirby Lambert (Roswell Invaders), Derek Perry (Lake Erie Crushers), Blake Whitney (Chicago Cubs) Sam Fischer (Gateway Grizzlies), Ryan Darrow (Hickory Crawdads) and Ian Mikowski (Eastside Diamond Hoppers), while Charlie Carpenter was a 26th round draft pick by the Atlanta Braves before returning to school.
