Pete O'Hara has been named the head baseball coach as announced by the Gwynedd Mercy Athletic Department.

O'Hara becomes the second coach in team history for the Griffins replacing long-time skipper Paul Murphy who started the program back in 1999. A local standout, O'Hara enjoyed a prosperous career at nearby Delaware Valley University where he earned both his Bachelor's Degree along with a Masters in Business Administration in 2014. As an Aggie, O'Hara was a three-time all-conference standout on the diamond who ranks among the leaders in the Delaware Valley record books in several offensive categories. O'Hara also was a member of the football team that saw a pair of conference championships and appearances in the Division III Tournament. Off the field, he was named the Delaware Valley Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2014 and was a three-time member of both the fall and spring academic honor rolls in the MAC as a dual-sport athlete.

From there, O'Hara spent time as a volunteer assistant with Division I St. Joseph's starting in 2017 and moved into a full-time assistant position in 2018 where he works with the team's outfielders and oversees the program's base-running efforts. He also was part of the coaching staffs at his alma mater and Arcadia University. Local to the area, O'Hara attended Council Rock North High School and is from New Hope, Pa.

"I am incredibly excited for this opportunity to join the Gwynedd Mercy University community. I felt as though this was the absolute right fit for myself and my family, and I would be able to use my skills and background to contribute to the Athletic Department and the University right away," said O'Hara.

"I have the utmost respect, admiration, and gratitude for current SJU Head Coach Fritz Hamburg and assistant coach Ryan Wheeler for all that they have done for me in my time at SJU. I cannot thank the current and former SJU Players enough, as well as the former staff and players at Delaware Valley University, for their effort and support in my time at each respective program."

"I would also like to thank Keith Mondillo and the Search Committee for allowing me the opportunity to join the Griffin community. I am looking forward to continuing to build the championship-caliber program of Gwynedd Mercy University Baseball."

Gwynedd Mercy Athletic Director Keith Mondillo shares in the new opportunity. "I am excited and honored to welcome Peter O'Hara to the Gwynedd Mercy University community. Peter has experienced success at all levels of collegiate baseball. His commitment to excellence, and commitment to developing student-athletes will guide our baseball program into the future. Peter is a proven recruiter, and we cannot wait to see his team perform on the field."
