Berea, KY – Berea College Director of Athletics Ryan Hess has officially announced Frank Pufall as the new head baseball coach.

In introducing Pufall to the team Hess shared, "Our search committee set out to find a coach who would fully embrace this program and be committed to the development of our players both on the field and in the classroom. We wanted a coach that would establish a culture and a foundation from which this program will continue to emerge and excel." Hess added, "Coach Pufall brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. We are so excited to welcome Frank, his wife Rachel and their two boys to our Athletics family and campus community, and to watch our baseball players and program grow under his leadership."

Pufall comes to Berea most recently from Northland College (NCAA Division III), where he served as an assistant baseball coach. Prior to his time at Northland, Pufall served as head baseball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Superior (NCAA Division III) for five seasons. He also spent two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota – Duluth (NCAA Division II). While at UMD, Pufall coached the 2016 NCAA Division II Player of the Year and Philadelphia Phillies draft pick Alex Wojciechowski, as well as two other players who signed professional contacts, Bo Hellquist (Minnesota Twins) and Jimmy Heck (Tucson Saguaros, independent baseball).

Pufall played collegiately at Vanderbilt University, graduating in 1999, and is working towards completion of a Master's degree in Education from Minnesota - Duluth.

"From the start of the process, Berea seemed like a great fit for me and my family," Pufall stated. "AD Hess and the search committee quickly confirmed this to be true. I would like to thank President Roelofs, Provost Steele, Ryan Hess and the search committee for this opportunity. I'm extremely excited to start working with the student-athletes and look forward to helping them take the Berea College baseball program to new levels of success."

Pufall will take the reins immediately and lead the baseball team through the end of the fall non-traditional segment.
