Washington & Jefferson College rolled up 19 more runs on 28 hits as they completed a three-game sweep of Geneva College Saturday. The Presidents rolled to a 19-5 win over the visiting Golden Tornadoes in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at Ross Memorial Park. The win was the 15th straight for W&J, who improves to 21-6 overall and 14-0 the PAC. Geneva drops to 8-19 overall and 4-10 in conference action.

Illinois Wesleyan University claimed a crucial College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin series with a 9-3 victory over Carroll University in the weekend rubber match, Saturday at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Ill. The bats came alive as IWU tallied nine runs between the third and fourth innings and sophomore Jacob Cyrus took care of the rest on the mound. With the win, the Titans' record improved to 15-11 (6-3 CCIW), while Carroll's record slipped to 12-16 (5-5 CCIW). Cyrus earned the win on the bump (3-1) as the sophomore tossed six innings of one-hit ball, while striking out six. Every starter for the Green and White accumulated at least one base hit as IWU outhit the Pios, 15-5. Evan Ranneklev led the offense with four hits, including one triple.

With their playoff hopes on the line, George Fox fought its way to another nail-biting 4-3 win over Pacific to clinch the series and a potential Northwest Conference tourney berth in the last home game of 2022, sending their seniors out as winners on Apr. 16. The middle of the lineup produced all of the runs for Fox, and the Bruins pitching staff combined to throw seven shutout innings, including the final four. Defensively, all nine players on the diamond for Fox stayed locked in to secure a win with no errors and multiple impressive plays with their gloves.

Brandeis University split their doubleheader today against Washington University in St. Louis, losing the first game 18-8 and winning the second in thrilling fashion 7-6. The Judges' record moves to 15-8 (5-6 in the UAA), while the Bears' record moves to 10-17 (2-9 in the UAA). in game one the third and fourth innings were where the Bears took over. In the second game, the Bears took a quick lead but the Judges gaveled then losers when Mike Khoury came up clutch with a two RBI single to walk it off for the Judges in a 7-6 final score.

Unlike the doubleheader yesterday at Tiger Stadium, runs came at a premium between Ithaca College and RIT on Saturday, as the Bombers completed the weekend sweep with a 3-2 walk-off victory on Saturday afternoon. IC is now 20-7 overall this season and 8-3 in Liberty League action. The Bombers trailed RIT, 2-1, heading into the bottom of the ninth inning after the Tigers broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth. IC loaded the bases without putting the ball in play as Matt Fabian led off with a walk and Gil Merod was hit by a pitch before RIT made a pitching change. Nicholas Cutaia then drew a walk to load the bases, and after RIT recorded a strikeout, Ethan McDonough ended the game with a two-run single to right field, bringing in Fabian and Colin Shashaty, who entered as a pinch runner.

Catholic University senior Peter Giombetti became the school's single-season home run leader on Senior Day, but the Cardinals fell to Elizabethtown at Talbot Field Saturday, 17-8. Despite dropping two of three games to the Blue Jays this weekend, the Cardinals (24-8, 10-2 LC) remain in first place in the Landmark Conference standings, two games ahead of rival Scranton. Eight players combined for 10 home runs on Saturday with four players from each team hitting at least one. With Catholic leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Giombetti sent a solo shot over the scoreboard in left center for his 12th home run of the season, surpassing the record set by Brendan Cotter in 2018.

After three consecutive splits to open North Coast Athletic Conference play, The College of Wooster scored a much-needed sweep on Saturday at Wabash College. The Fighting Scots won the opener 4-3 and then took the nightcap 12-7. Wooster (16-8, 5-3 NCAC) turned to sophomore Corey Knauf (save one) to get the Scots over the finish line in game one. The right-hander stranded the tying run in scoring position, as senior right fielder Ben Hines tracked down a Liam Patton fly ball near the line for the final out of the game. Crooked numbers aligned with the Scots, including in the seventh, when Wooster broke the game wide open at 12-3. Dean Brown went 5-for-8 with two RBI on the day, while Ben Gbur added four hits, four runs scored, and two RBI.

Stevens Institute of Technology earned two big MAC Freedom wins, sweeping Wilkes at home in a doubleheader Saturday at Dobbelaar Field. They won the opener 3-1 and came back from three runs down to earn a 9-8 victory in the nightcap. Graduate student Thomas Paulich showed out for the Ducks. He finished the day a combined 5 for 7 over both games with five RBI and two home runs. Both of his homers came in the second game when he led a comeback for Stevens, who trailed by three runs late in the seven-inning affair. The Ducks improved to 23-10 overall and 10-5 in conference play with the wins. Stevens sits in third place in the league standings, one game behind Misericordia. The teams will face one another in a three-game series next weekend. Junior Jason Spezzaferra led the Colonels with four hits on the day, going a combined 4 for 5.

Allegheny's offensive attack was on full display in a North Coast Athletic Conference twinbill at Ohio Wesleyan, with the Gators winning game one, 11-0, in seven innings before taking an 18-10 lead into the sixth before the game was halted due to darkness. In game one, the Gators put up 10 runs in the second through fourth innings, including six in the fourth. The first seven runs were plated via home runs. The night cap had a similar feel for the Gators as the offense kept clicking on all cylinders. Allegheny blew the game open with seven runs apiece in both the third and fourth innings. The game was halted due to darkness with Allegheny leading 18-10 in the top of the sixth after the Bishops battled back with nine runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Senior first baseman Peter Costentino had a walk-off, two-run single in the opener and then added two RBI in the second game as Montclair State swept its doubleheader with The College of New Jersey on Saturday at Yogi Berra Stadium. The Red Hawks (24-7, 9-1 NJAC) extended their winning streak to seven games as it scored three times in the bottom of the ninth for a 4-3 victory in Game 1 before completing the sweep with a 9-3 victory in the nightcap. Prior to the game, the Red Hawks officially retired the No. 27 worn by College Baseball Hall of Famer John Deutsch. Cosentino, who currently wears the number and the last player, summoned a little Deutsch magic from the digit as he smacked the ball down the third base line scoring Moore and McKenna with the game-winning runs as the Red Hawks pulled out the victory, 4-3 in game one.

Lawrence University swept a Midwest Conference
doubleheader from Cornell College on Saturday at Ash
Park Field. The Vikings romped to a 15-3 victory in the
opener and then rallied for a 6-5 win in the second
game. Lawrence took two of three in the series and
has won 10 of its last 12. In the first game, Edan Perez
went 5-for-6 and scored a pair of runs for the Vikings,
and he tied the Lawrence record for hits in a game.

Adrian College jumped back on the winning track on Saturday with a pair of victories over Albion College. The Bulldogs came out ready to hit and the pitching staff did its job saucing up the Albion hitters. The MIAA incorporated a 10-run mercy rule after seven innings which Adrian took advantage in both games winning 13-3 in game one and 11-1 in game two. In the 14 innings played on the day, the Bulldogs struck out 15 of Albion's hitters. Andrew Giorno got the start for Adrian throwing 4.2 innings allowing three runs on five hits with a season-high eight strikeouts. Luc St. Antoine got the win in relief helping the Bulldogs out of a bases loaded jam as he went 1.1 inning striking out a pair before Tripp Russo closed things out with a scoreless seventh inning. Joe Toth made his first start of the season in game two, going six strong innings allowing one runs on two hits with four strikeouts. Tyler Usher finished the game for Adrian with a scoreless seventh inning.

Penn State Abington completed the three-game series sweep at Penn College by defeating the Wildcats, 10-7, in United East Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Muncy Bank Ballpark. In the sixth inning, Abington regained the lead, this time for good. The Nittany Lions plated four runs in the inning with Zach Morales coming through with a two-run double. Montana Milward and Andrew Lastowka recorded back-to-back run scoring singles later in the inning to make the score 6-2. The Wildcats made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded. A walk by Jacob Carles forced in a run and then Cameron Dick followed with a two-run double to make the score 10-7. McCarty shifted to the mound and went on to retire the final two outs for the save without any further damage.

Stevenson (10-21-1, 5-3 MACC) earned a doubleheader sweep over MAC Commonwealth oppenent Eastern (10-22, 3-7 MACC) this afternoon at Sugar Field. Stevenson won the first game 3-2 in comeback fashion and led the second game wire-to-wire to pick up an 8-3 victory. Both teams received strong pitching performances from their starters. Matt Reich pitched 7.0 innings for the Mustangs, giving up one earned run on six hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Despite the loss, first-year pitcher Tanner Creel recorded another strong start. The Troy, Tx. native pitched an efficient 7.2 frames and struck out a career-best seven strikeouts, allowing just four hits and one earned run. Tommy Holcomb notched a pair of hits and three RBIs with a double in game two. Jonathan Brandt went 3-4 at the plate in the leadoff position with an RBI and a double.

It was another day of back-and-forth action as Covenant used a six-run seventh inning, all with two outs, to take down Maryville, 10-9. The win helped Covenant (15-17, 7-8 USA South) take the conference series. The bats finally came alive for the host Scots once again in the bottom of the seventh as they would connect on seven hits to score six runs, all with two outs on the board. A Maryville single put the tying run on base for the visiting Scots in the ninth. But, closing pitcher Conor Austin would record back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning and seal the 10-9 victory.

The University of Rochester piled up 17 runs in just five innings and earned a series sweep of St. Lawrence University, winning by a 17-4 score on Saturday afternoon at Towers Field. The 17 runs are second most scored by the Yellowjackets this season, with Rochester winning its 14th straight game, moving to 24-4 on the year. UR remains perfect in Liberty League play as well, jumping to 11-0. Rochester's offensive output was more than enough for senior starter Trevor Van Allen who was terrific on the mound. Van Allen (6-0) tossed seven innings of 1-hit ball, striking out eight and walking three. Van Allen's sixth win puts him just outside the top-10 in the Rochester record book for single-season victories. Saturday's game also lowered his ERA to just 2.08 over 39 innings this season.

Senior Robert Lamm hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh of game two helping the DeSales University salvage a split of a MAC Freedom doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Weiland Park. FDU took a 5-1 lead thru two and a half innings taking advantage of some Bulldog errors and misplays. The Devils added an insurance run in the fifth on a solo home run and DeSales couldn't find the big hit leaving 13 men on-base over seven innings, out-hitting FDU, 13-7. The Devils took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and continued to lead 3-1 into the bottom of the seventh inning when the Bulldogs rallied. Leamer tied the game with a two-RBI triple with one out and Lamm pushed home across the game winner with a deep sacrifice fly to right field plating Leamer. Senior Ian Kacergis improved to 6-0 on the season with his fourth complete-game effort of the season allowing three runs and striking out six.

Chatham University picked up its first conference wins of 2022, 6-0 and 3-2, over Bethany at home Saturday afternoon. The Cougars' record is now 10-15 overall and 2-12 in PAC play. It was a stellar outing all around for Chatham in game one, collecting seven base hits offensively, two off the bat of Quinn Burke. First-year Sam Helton had a second-inning triple while sophomore Dylan Vogel doubled. Pitching wise, the Cougars put together their best outing of the season. They surrendered just one base hit in the seven-inning affair. Sophomore Dominic Costellic started and got the win in impressive fashion, hurling five innings and striking out seven batters, allowing just three base runners. First-year Tyler Cote concluded the game and retired all six batters he faced. In game two, Chatham picked up right where it left off. The game seemed destined for extras with neither team able to break through. Then, in the eighth, Burke blasted a low but far ball deep to center that cleared the wall for his second home run of the season.

Skidmore College remained firmly in control of the Liberty League East with a 5-2 night cap win over Vassar College, Saturday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds dropped the opener 7-6, but took the series 2-1. Skidmore (20-4-1) has pulled away in standings with an 8-1 Division and 9-2 overall Liberty League record. Down 6-1 heading into the seventh and final inning, the Thoroughbreds scored five runs to tie it 6-6. William Snyder had a two-run single and Sean Lang smacked a two-run double in the comeback. The Brewers regrouped and had a two-out rally in their half of the seventh for the walk-off win. Skidmore set the tone early with three runs in the top of the first. Trey Bourque had a two-strike two-run double and Max Mello had an RBI single. Sac flies from Snyder and Danny Melillo accounted for the other two runs. Ameer Hasan remained unbeaten at 5-0. He allowed two runs on eight hits with one walk and four strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Ethan Caiazza earned his second save with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. This is Skidmore's first 20-win season since 2012.

Nebraska Wesleyan split its doubleheader with Luther College at NWU Field. The Prairie Wolves won game one, 9-4, then fell in game two, 6-1. The Prairie Wolves used a pair of runs in the sixth inning to cut into an early deficit. Luther broke out to a 4-1 lead through five innings. NWU's first run was scored on an RBI single from Evan Kling. In the sixth inning, Noah Unger lined a double to left field to score two runs and make it a 4-3 ball game. NWU exploded for five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. After working the bases loaded in the inning, Kaleb Knox lined a two-run single to give the Prairie Wolves the lead. Unger then plated another run with an RBI single. A wild pitch tacked on a run before Jason English knocked an RBI single through the middle of the infield. The Prairie Wolves added another run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Kaleb Knox lined a hard single down the left field line to score Matthew Brown. NWU then held Luther scoreless in the top of the ninth inning to clinch the series. Luther was able to quiet the NWU bats in game two. The Norse held the Prairie Wolves scoreless until their last out of the game. Nebraska Wesleyan avoided being shut out for the first time this season when Evan Kling hit a solo home run over the right field fence.

With the rain coming down in the bottom of the ninth in a back-and-forth game between SUNY New Paltz and Fredonia State Saturday at Loren Campbell Memorial Field, grad student Dean Stalzer stepped into the box. Stalzer had already smacked two home runs earlier in the game, both to re-take the lead for the Hawks, and he had another opportunity to do so in his final at-bat in the ninth with bases loaded and his team down by three. He was patient, watching a few go low and outside, before turning on a pitch that sailed onto the tennis courts to end the game in grand slam walk off fashion, 18-17 in favor of SUNY New Paltz. "It's always stressful getting down to the wire of the game, but for me in the back of my mind all I was thinking was sweep," Stalzer said. "In the last five years I've been here, sweeping in the SUNYAC conference hasn't really happened yet, so today was it. My first time in five years, it feels great. It feels really great." Stalzer was the catalyst in an offensive outpouring from both sides. The Shoreham, NY native finished a career performance with a his third three-home run game of the season, while tallying a career-high 12 RBI, which is tied for second-most all-time in Division III history. He ultimately went 4-for-5 with four runs, a walk, 12 RBI and one stolen base.

Freshman Johnny Oates II had four hits and three RBIs, and senior captain Trey Karnes added two hits and two RBIs in the second game, while freshman Christian Lancaster had three hits and one RBI in the first game, as Hampden-Sydney College split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader at home against Bridgewater College on Saturday on Yank Bernier Field at the Ty Cobb Ballpark – Wurdeman Stadium. Reid Long continued his dominant year on the mound tossing seven innings and striking out three batters to improve his record to 8-1 on the season in game one. Brett Tharp came in for the eighth and ninth inning to earn his ninth save of the season. Long now leads the conference in wins by two, and Tharp is atop the conference in saves. Junior Owen Tappy gained the pitching win in relief in the 10-5 nightcap.

Penn State Behrend picked up a sweep over Penn State Altoona, 6-3 and 18-12, on Saturday to improve to 8-2 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play. Zach Bowen had a team-high six hits in the sweep, registering a homerun, three doubles and a triple to go along with four RBIs and seven runs scored. Juston Jones joined Bowen for the team-lead in game two with three hits while adding two RBIs and two runs. Zac Bogats collected five hits on the day batting out of the lead-off spot.

Senior Louis Lombardi finished with a career-high nine strikeouts in his first collegiate complete game on Saturday afternoon as St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) split with St, Joesph's (Long Island). The senior pitcher also logged an RBI single, lifting St. Joseph's University (Brooklyn) to a 3-1 game-one triumph over sibling rivals St. Joseph's University (Long Island). In the second game of the doubleheader, a two-run lead over three innings wasn't enough for the Bears (4-20, 2-12) as a six-run fourth inning guided the Golden Eagles (12-8, 11-3) to a 12-2 win in seven innings.

Senior Dillan Weikel was once again stellar Saturday afternoon at the University of Scranton, earning another victory on the bump to help Susquehanna University to a Landmark Conference split at the University of Scranton from Volpe Field. SU picked up the first game 5-1 before falling 6-0 in a rain-shortened game two. Weikel worked into the eighth inning on Saturday, logging 7.2 innings of work while allowing just three hits and one earned run as the River Hawks earned a key victory on the road. The host Royals chalked up four runs in the bottom of the fourth, and that was all the offense needed in the 6-0 win. The contest was delayed in the sixth inning, and ultimately made an official game after the rain became stronger.

Benedictine University brought their bats to Wisconsin, scoring 35 runs on 34 hits in a sweep of Wisconsin Lutheran, 12-3 and 23-0. Benedictine set the tone early with single runs in the first two innings. All nine members of the starting lineup posted a hit as Benedictine finished with 14, half of which were for extra bases. Twelve players posted a hit in the game as Benedictine raked 20.
