Top-seeded Wheaton College (Mass.) opened with seven unanswered runs, en-route to a 7-2 victory over visiting fifth-seeded Massachusetts Institute of Technology this afternoon in the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Tournament at Sidell Stadium on the Wheaton campus in Norton, Mass. The Lyons win their 15th straight game to improve to 28-10 on the season, while the Engineers fall to 16-22-1. Wheaton will play number three seed Babson College, a 7-1 winner over second-seeded Springfield College, tomorrow at Sidell Stadium, while MIT will take on Springfield in the early game at the same site.

Texas-Dallas American Southwest Conference rival Belhaven will meet in the first winner's bracket game Saturday after the Comets used a two-home run 7th inning Friday to power past Concordia Texas, 6-1, in their opening game in the ASC Red Bracket Tournament. The two teams will meet for the fourth time in the last two weekends with a berth in the Red Bracket title game on the line. Up 1-0 after Deylan Moreno broke a scoreless tie in the 6th, scoring on a wild pitch; the Comets got a pair of home runs in the 7th as both Keagan Vance and Ramon Garza went deep. By the time Concordia got out of the frame, the Tornados had used three pitchers and UTD had sent 10 hitters to the plate. Belhaven defeated Hardin-Simmons 11-4 earlier in the day.

It took six innings to put the offense in gear but when it happened East Texas Baptist University erupted for 10 runs as they came from behind to run-rule LeTourneau University, 12-2, in the American Southwest Conference Blue Bracket Tournament. ETBU trailed for five innings, 2-0, before unleashing their offense in the sixth inning. Cole Godkin went eight innings for his seventh win of the year recording nine strikeouts giving up just two earned runs. ETBU had 17 hits with eight players recording two hits each. They will play Mary Hardin Baylor who defeated McMurry 11-7 earlier in the day.

In what will go down as one of the more memorable games in CUNYAC baseball history, the Bearcats won 14-13 in the first game of the best of 3 championship series against CCNY at Maimonides Park on Coney Island. The last three innings featured 20 total runs, but the Bearcats rallied in the end for the win. CCNY led 7-3 heading into the bottom of the eighth but the Bearcats - all without a hit and no errors - received seven walks, four wild pitches, and two hit by pitches to stun CCNY to take the lead 10-7. CCNY took back the lead in the ninth inning with six runs on two hits to jump ahead 13-10. That forced the Bearcats to play catch up again and they did with four runs on two hits, two walks and two hit by pitches for the walk-off win. Steven Patterson walked with the bases loaded to clinch the win.

Top-seeded St. John Fisher College fell 6-5 in the opening game of the Empire 8 Championship before tying the program record for runs scored in the nightcap, 31-2, as the Cardinals split with fourth-seeded Elmira College at Dugan Yard on Friday to open the conference tournament. In the top of the eighth in game one, Elmira put its leadoff hitter on with a single and moved him into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. After making a change on the mound, Fisher notched the second out of the inning with a flyout, but was unable to get off the field as the Soaring Eagles singled through the right side to drive in what turned out to be the game-winning run. In the nightcap, the Cardinals greeted the Elmira with starter with seven runs after sending 11 hitters to the plate before the side was retired In all, Fisher came away with eight hits, and the Cardinals continued to pour it on - scoring multiple runs in five of the next seven innings. Utica University and the Russell Sage College Gators also split Friday's Empire 8 Conference Tournament Semifinals to set up a decisive game three on Saturday. Utica took game one 12-0 and Sage prevailed 4-1.

Second-seeded Mitchell College erased a two-run deficit and posted a 6-3 victory over third-seeded Eastern Nazarene College on Friday in the opening round of the 2022 New England Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship at Laurie Cox Memorial Field. Juan Abreu plated the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, and Kenny Heon pitched the Mariners to the finish with 4.1 innings of scoreless relief. Bo Yaworski also homered in the contest, which saw Mitchell score five unanswered runs to move into the winner's bracket of the double-elimination tournament. The Mariners (27-10 overall) advance to a Saturday showdown against top-seeded New England College. Top-seed New England College cruised to an 11-0 win in Game One of the 2022 NECC Tournament over the No. 4 seed Lesley University at Laurie Cox Memorial Field Friday morning. Eastern Nazarene wrapped up the day with a 7-4 win over fourth-seeded Lesley in an elimination showdown.

The 12th-ranked Trinity (Texas) Tigers opened the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with an 11-6 win over the University of St. Thomas on Friday afternoon. Trinity (30-8) came in as the top seed in the tournament and left with its 20th win in the last 21 games. The Tigers have won all four meetings against the Celts this season, after sweeping a three-game series at home nearly one month ago. MJ Metz smashed two home runs on his way to a 3-for-4 performance during which he collected three RBI and scored three runs. Metz hit home runs to left-center field in his first two at-bats, helping the Tigers to get the early lead. Tyler Pettit  joined his teammate with three hits on the day, including a home run of his own. Joseph Chavana improved to 9-1 on the season, giving up four runs on nine hits over eight-plus innings, and striking out six batters without issuing a walk. Trinity will face Centenary (La.). The Gents scored a 2-1 win over Texas Lutheran. The Bulldogs will have to fight through the elimination bracket starting first with a game with St. Thomas.

With the wins, the Corsairs are the No. 5 seed in the
tournament, finishing a spot higher than they were 
projected in the LEC preseason poll, and will face
No. 2 Rhode Island College in the first round of the
tournament. The Owls  see their season come to an end.

William Peace University picked up their first postseason win in the history of their program with a 14-10 win over Methodist. The Pacers will continue in the USA South Conference Tournament with a game tomorrow, May 7th, against Covenant. Huntingdon also staved off elimination with a 9-1 win over Piedmont. They earned a date with Pfeiffer. The two top seeds in each Pod have 2-0 records. N.C. Wesleyan earned their second win downing the Pfeiffer Falcons 10-7. La Grange continued their winning tradition with a 11-2 victory over Covenant.

Junior shortstop Zach Donahue and senior DH Jack Rich each had five hits in a 19-hit attack that powered the No. 2 nationally-ranked Eastern Connecticut State University to a 14-7 victory over the University of Massachusetts Boston that sealed a second straight Little East Conference regular-season championship Friday afternoon at the Eastern Baseball Stadium. In the nightcap, Eastern (35-3, 15-1 LEC) completed its second straight 15-1 conference regular-season when graduate student Tommy Benincaso pitched six no-hit innings and the Warriors scored three times in the third inning on four hits in a 6-1 win to end its regular season with 23 wins in their last 24 games and on a nine-game winning streak. This year, the Warriors won at least 30 games for the 15th time in the regular season since joining the NCAA in 1976, but the sweep gives Eastern a record 35 wins in the regular season, breaking the old mark of 34 set three times in a span of nine years between 1977 and 1985.

Salve Regina University swept No. 22 ranked Endicott College, overcoming early deficits in each game, ending a 17-game win streak for the visitors, while claiming the top spot of the Commonwealth Coast Conference in the regular season finale Friday afternoon. The Seahawks improve to 35-29 all-time versus the Gulls and have won 12 of the last 14 in the series. In Game 1 the Gulls carried a 2-0 lead into the eighth inning before a two-run single from Dylan Ketch tied the game. Andrew Roman came on in the ninth and struck out all three batters he faced setting up the Seahawks and Chris Veneruso for a walk-off single and the 3-2 victory, snapping the Gulls' 17-game win streak and dealing them their first loss in CCC play. In Game 2 the story was rather similar. This time the Gulls led 2-0 through six then tacked on three more in the top of the seventh on a home-run from John Mulready. In the bottom of the frame the Seahawks first two batters failed to reach then the Seahawks found a little two-out magic. The next two batters walked before two doubles, two base hits, and an error aided a 6-0 scoring spree to give the Seahawks the lead. From there Zach Lopez and Graham Jefferies combined to shutout the Gulls and Roman once again closed the door in the top of the ninth to deliver the Seahawks the sweep.

Cortland scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning on a Kameron Hartenstein pinch-hit RBI single and a Scott Giordano three-run homer, and the nationally 13th-ranked Red Dragons held on for an 8-7 victory over host New Paltz in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader. The second game was postponed due to rain, and the teams will play a doubleheader Saturday at noon at SUNY Oneonta's field. Giordano finished 3-for-6 with three RBI, Andrew Michalski was 2-for-5 with three RBI, and Danny Coleman and Matthew Krafft each were 2-for-4 for Cortland (28-10, 13-3 SUNYAC). Dean Stalzer homered twice and drove in three runs, Dillon Ristano was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Tommy Kreider went 2-for-5 with two RBI and Michael Boccarossa was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs for New Paltz (14-20, 6-10 SUNYAC). The Hawks rallied to tie the game in both the seventh and ninth innings, and almost did so again in the 10th.

Westfield State first-year Samuel Palmer drilled a walk-off sacrifice fly to right field to send the Owls to a 4-3 victory over Bridgewater State in the series opener of a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference game from Bud and Jim Hagan Field on a Friday afternoon. The Owls have now won eight of their last nine games, and improve to 23-13 overall and 14-5 in the MASCAC. Bridgewater State, who currently owns the top spot in the conference standings, drops to 26-12 overall and 16-3 in conference play.

Junior right-hander Fabio Kamitani tossed a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts to lead Wisconsin Lutheran College to a 2-0 game one Senior Day win over St. Norbert on Friday afternoon at Neumann Family Baseball Field. The Green Knights won the nightcap over the Warriors, 4-1. The Green Knights, who not only clinched a berth in the tournament but will be at least the No. 4 seeding, will open the tournament on Thursday. St. Norbert couldn't solve Wisconsin Lutheran's Fabio Kamitani in the opener, getting blanked on eight hits. Kamitani did not walk a batter and struck out seven. He outdueled St. Norbert's Mason Sefcik, who took a tough complete-game loss while scattering 12 hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Wisconsin Lutheran scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings. The Green Knights got on the board first in Game 2, with Luke Follmann scoring on an error in the fourth inning. St. Norbert added a pair of runs in the sixth inning, with Tommy Sheehan plating a run on a groundout and Devin Geary lifting a sacrifice fly. Wisconsin Lutheran got a run back in the seventh, but the Green Knights scored in the eighth on a Geary RBI single.

Edgewood College swept Lakeland University in Friday's NACC doubleheader. The Eagles earned the game one victory, 3-0, before solidifying the sweep with an 8-1 nightcap. The Eagles celebrated the careers of nine seniors as well as Veteran's Appreciation Day. Through the first two innings of play, strong pitching from both the Eagles and Muskies was the story. A total of seven batters struck out at the plate, with Fay from Lakeland (16-20, 6-16 NACC) recording four, while Kyle Semrand notched three. Semrad recorded the complete game shutout. Semrad struck out a career-high eight batters and scattered just four hits. Fay recorded seven strikeouts for the Muskies. The bats continued to roll in game two as the Eagles recorded 10 hits in the nightcap. Kyle Sagan led the Edgewood College offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and one run. Goodwin, Jacob Slonim, and Max Hoeser each notched two hits.

No. 7 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrapped up at least a share of its fifth consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship and 21st in program history Friday with a pair of wins at UW-Platteville. The Warhawks (31-6 overall, 23-3 WIAC) extended their active win streak to 16 games with a 4-1 victory in Game 1 and a 16-3 triumph in seven innings in the nightcap. In the first game, Westin Muir and Cade Berendt combined to allow five hits with eight strikeouts and stranded 11 Pioneer baserunners in the contest. In Game 2, the Warhawks plated 11 runs over the first three innings, including six in the top of the first, to back Kade Lancour, who struck out nine batters over seven innings in the run-rule shortened contest to improve to 8-0.

Senior Aaron Simmons etched his name atop the WIAC record books as he helped No. 16 UW-Stevens Point (30-6, 21-5) swept a doubleheader at UW-Oshkosh (20-15, 14-10) on Friday. UWSP took game one, 4-2, before completing the sweep with a 7-5 win in game two. Simmons had seven hits on the day, including his WIAC record-tying 16th career triple. He belted two home runs and two doubles among his seven knocks. He had three RBI and scored five times. In game two, Simmons was a double shy of a cycle. Bradley Comer also nearly had a cycle in game two. He went 4-for-5 and was a home run shy of the feat. Comer had five hits on the day with an RBI and a runs scored. Lucas Luedtke collected four hits on the day with an RBI. Anthony Tomczak had two hits, including a tiebreaking two-run homer in game two.

Rhode Island College used a pair of strong starts to spoil Plymouth State University’s Senior Day, taking both ends of a Little East Conference doubleheader, 6-0 and 12-2, at Parish Field on Friday. With the wins, RIC established a new single-season record for victories. Andrew Sears was dominant in the opener, going the full nine inning and only allowing three hits, while striking out nine batters, to notch his eighth win of the season (8-1). Sophomore pitcher Terry Murray picked up win number five of the season (5-2) with a complete game effort in the nightcap.

Northwestern (Minn.) opened up their final UMAC series of the regular season on Friday, and it was the opening game of a three game tilt with Martin Luther. The Eagles won an entertaining, back-and-forth game 11-8. The weather was warm (finally) and so were the bats, and the scoring started almost immediately. The most important sequence of events came in the bottom of the fifth inning with the game tied. Ben Spores was on first base, and Cramer Hamilton hit a ball to third base. The ball was misplayed as an error was charged, and with two outs that extended the inning and gave Payton Christenson a chance to bat. The freshman took advantage of it. Christenson launched his second homerun of the season over the left field fence, a three run shot, and the Eagles took the lead back 9-6. Sam Ludzack picked up his second win of the season on the mound, throwing 7.1 innings. Aaron Severson pitched the final 1.2 innings and did not give up an earned run.

California Lutheran University took care of busy on Senior Day and routed the Occidental Tigers 13–5 on Friday afternoon. Cal Lutheran exploded for 13 runs and 17 hits against the Tigers. Brendan Durfee and Kyle Reuser both had three hits while Sean Blandino, Bullard, Max Heverly, Zach Lafata and Will Watson each had two. Six Kingsmen doubled in the game as Blandino, Bullard, Durfee, Heverly, Lafata and Reuser each recorded an extra-base hit. Blandino led the team with 3 RBI and Durfee, Heverly and Reuser each had two.

With their postseason bid already locked up, MSOE headed into their last road doubleheader of the regular season trying to improve their seeding for the NACC tournament. The Raiders couldn't overcome miscues in game one but a dominant pitching performance in the second half of the twin bill helped the Red & White split with Marian, 5-6 and 3-0, on Friday afternoon. MSOE (21-16, 16-6 NACC) couldn't take care of the ball against Marian (15-20, 10-12 NACC) in game one and committed five errors that led to two unearned runs in the second inning that proved to be the difference in the contest. Nolan Vincent was so dominant in game two that all the Red & White had to do was score one run and the Raiders starter would do the rest. Vincent went all nine innings for his third outing where he went the distance this season and the first complete game shutout of his career. The sophomore lowered his ERA to a league leading 1.87 in the process.

Augustana shut out Carthage 13-0 on Friday at Augie Schmidt Field in Kenosha, Wis. Augustana starting pitcher Harrison Boushele (5-2) pitched a masterful game, blanking Carthage on two hits, no walks and 10 strikeouts over six innings. Anthony Sus mopped up in the seventh inning to complete the shutout. With the loss, Carthage was eliminated from next week's CCIW Baseball Tournament.

No. 15 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University hosted John Carroll University for Seniors' Day and the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season finale on Fisher Field. The teams were scheduled for a doubleheader, but a rain delay forced game two to be cancelled. The Yellow Jackets (29-9, 12-5 OAC) defeated the Blue Streaks (18-20, 9-8 OAC) in game one by a final score of 6-2. BW was led by senior outfielder Bijan Kamalipour as he batted in two runs. Senior All-OAC utility player Drew Wilson pitched five scoreless innings for BW, allowing just three hits, and striking out seven batters. Junior utility player Ryan Guggenheim went 2-3 with a run and an RBI.

UW-La Crosse split a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at UW-Eau Claire Friday afternoon at Carson Park. UWL lost the first game, 9-6, before coming back to take the nightcap, 14-7. UWEC's Diego Caicedo's solo home run in the bottom of the sixth tied the game at 6-6. In the seventh, Walter Johnson's two-out three-run home run gave UW-Eau Claire a 9-6 lead, scoring Treichel and David Janssen. UWL loaded the bases in the top of the eighth, but failed to score. In the nightcap, UWL scored six runs in the top of the fourth. Urlaub's single scored two while Tommy Nelsen later hit a grand slam for a 10-2 lead.

Castleton combined for 25 hits in their doubleheader against Southern Maine Friday afternoon, using a ninth-inning rally to claim the Game 1 13-6 victory before untimely errors cost them Game 2, 9-5, resulting in the series split. The Spartans' bats were on fire in Friday's opener, with the team's 15 hits serving as the most since their March 20 win over RPI. Reece de Castro and Evan Keegan ran the show for Castleton at the plate, combining to go 6-8 with four runs and seven RBIs, while Riley Orr (3-6) earned his third win on the season, allowing four runs and striking out a pair through five innings of work. With a 8-5 lead heading into the ninth, the Spartans racked up six hits and five RBIs to put the game out of reach. Castleton kept the offense rolling racking up another 10 hits in Game 2, but early errors cost the Spartans in a game that came down to the final two innings.

UW-Stout needed only three pitchers Friday as the Blue Devils swept Finlandia University, 7-0, 6-2, on Senior Day at Nelson Field. Senior Jace Baumann tossed a one-hitter in going the distance in the first game and junior Ethan Kjellberg struck out 11 to take the second game. Tim Kohls came on in game two to work the final inning, closing the game out on a double play. Senior third baseman Joel Thimsen had a big day at the plate, going a combined 4 for 9 for the with three doubles and two RBI. Baumann faced 31 batters over nine innings and fanned a career-best nine batters, his best since 2018 when he whiffed eight against Principia in relief. In game two, Kjellberg went eight innings and collected his career-best 11 strikeouts. Kjellberg had at least one strikeout in every inning but one, struck out all three batters in the third and three times put Finlandia (3-33, 0-26 WIAC) down in order.
