GLENSIDE - The Arcadia University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of Charles Thielmann as the new Head Baseball Coach. Thielmann will begin his duties at Arcadia on 9/18.
"I want to thank Athletics Director Brian Granata and the entire search committee for selecting and believing in me to take over as the next head baseball coach here at Arcadia University," Thielmann said. "I look forward to adding to the strong culture of this program and to help propel us to the next level. I would also like to thank Stevens and everyone that took part in my development as a coach to get me to where I am today."
Thielmann comes to Arcadia after serving as an Assistant Coach at fellow-MAC Freedom competitor Stevens Institute of Technology for six seasons, including the last season as the Associate Head Coach. While with the Ducks, Thielmann created and executed all practice plans and scouting reports, worked with the hitters and defense on game plan implementation, as well as handling all aspects of pitching development and game planning.
"Coach Thielmann's preparedness, drive to win, and desire to develop meaningful relationships with his student-athletes was apparent during the interview process," Granata said. "He has a proven track record of success wherever he has gone as a player and coach. Coach Thielmann's passion for Division III and intimate knowledge of the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) was a key factor for our search committee."
During his time at Stevens, Thielmann also served as the head coach for the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders of the Northwoods Baseball League for their 2021 season. He was also the head coach of the Giants in the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League for their 2020 season.
"I am so excited to be a part of such a great institution while working towards the ultimate goal of competing for a National Championship with the Knight9 family," Thielmann explained.
Thielmann graduated from Kean in 2016 with a degree in Communications. While with the Cougars, Thielmann reached the Division III College World Series twice and was named the 2013 NCAA Division III Baseball Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament Most Valuable Player. He holds the program record for most complete games in a career with 19 and is tied for the most wins in a single-season in program history with 10 in the 2013 season.
