Kehew to start Alfred program

ALFRED, NY – Deb Steward, the Associate Vice President for Student Experience, Athletics and Recreation, has announced the hiring of Brian Kehew as the Baseball Head Coach at Alfred University.
 
"I am thrilled to have Brian lead our baseball program," Steward said. "His philosophy on the role that sports play in the lives of the student-athlete aligns with our values. He is a tremendous mentor and will be a valuable member of the Alfred University community."
 
For the past year, Kehew served as the head coach of the baseball program at Medaille University. While at Medaille, Kehew was in charge of training, developing, and recruiting student-athletes to compete at a high level in the Empire 8 conference. Kehew additionally played a role in fundraising and community outreach efforts alongside the program.

"I look forward to providing our student-athletes with a successful baseball experience that compliments their classroom education and help them realize their potential."
 
Prior to his time with the Mavericks, Kehew spent time as the head coach at Becker College in Leicester, Massachusetts. At Becker, Kehew brought in the largest recruiting class in program history and ensured a perfect team retention rate.
 
Kehew previously spent over four years as the head coach and pitching coach for the Ocean State Waves in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. In 2017, Kehew led the program to the best record in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
 
Kehew additionally had a six-year run with Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, where he served as an assistant for the baseball team and was also the department's Recruiting Coordinator and Student-Athlete Success Coordinator. While at Salve Regina, the program finished atop the Commonwealth Coast Conference in 2017 and 2018 and won the conference tournament in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, Salve Regina was nationally ranked as high as No. 12 and were ranked No. 1 in the New England region. Kehew coached 11 All-New England honorees, with one player being named as an All-American.
 
The initial coaching stop for Kehew was at Naval Academy Preparatory School from 2016-17.
 
Kehew received his Bachelor's in Sport Administration from the University of Louisville and later earned his Master's in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Central Florida.
