Endicott makes case for top ranking on Monday

No. 2 nationally ranked Endicott knocked off No. 9 Johns Hopkins, 14-8, on Monday morning at Lake Myrtle Field 5. With the game tied at 1-1 in the top of the fifth, back-to-back homers from Danny MacDougall (three-run homer) and Nicolas Notarangelo (solo shot) gave the Gulls a 5-1 lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way. After Brendan O'Neil scored on a wild pitch later that inning, AJ Hamm singled home John Mulready to cap off the six run frame for the Blue and Green. That run support was plenty for starting pitcher John Connolly, as he went five strong with seven strikeouts and just two earned runs allowed. In the sixth and seventh innings, the Gulls plated some insurance runs via a Notarangelo three-run double (sixth inning), a MacDougall two-run single (seventh inning), and another Notarangelo RBI single (seventh inning) to score MacDougall. The two combined for a 7-11 day with nine RBI's and five runs scored at the plate. Johns Hopkins attempted a comeback bid in the bottom of the seventh, but Evan Scully limited the damage and held down the Jays the rest of the way following his entrance with one out in the frame.

UW-Eau Claire defeated Elmhurst 13-5 on Monday at the RussMatt Invitational to give head coach Patrick Reilly and his staff its first career victory. The Blugolds pounded out 18 hits and got a strong start on the mound from Sebastian De La Toba to cruise past the Blue Jays for their first win of the season. De La Toba dealt six solid innings on the mound and held Elmhurst to two earned runs as he earned the win. He struck out four and walked two. Meanwhile, the Blugold (1-6) offense got back-to-back home runs from Walter Johnson and Drew Salyers in the sixth inning to highlight its best showing of the season. Eli Keirstead had a 4 for 4 day, and Jason Lehman added three hits.

Senior Luke Linnehan tossed seven shutout innings and Bates rolled to a 7-1 win over Carleton College Monday morning at the Tucson Invitational Games. Linnehan turned in the longest outing of his collegiate career to earn the victory, holding the Knights (1-5) to just one hit while striking out three. The Bobcats (7-3) grabbed the lead for good against Carleton starter Sam Zacks (0-1) by scoring three runs in the top of the third inning. Senior captain Jack Brennan got things started with an infield single. First-year Keagan Ryan (Salem, N.H.) followed with a single to left, and junior Brandon Biggane reached on a 5-4 fielder's choice. The relay to first was wild, allowing Brennan to score and Biggane to move to second. Senior captain Chris Cimino tripled in Biggane and the Bobcats led 2-0. An RBI groundout from sophomore Gibby Sullivan extended the lead to 3-0. The Bobcats tallied 13 hits while holding the Knights to just three. Both teams committed four errors on the day. Jankowski went 3-4 at the plate while Brennan, Cimino and junior Ben Genser notched two hits apiece.

The LaGrange Panthers improved to 12-4 after beating Wooster 4-3 and 6-5 at home. In the bottom of the ninth in the opener, Brody Hollingsworth hit a walk off two-run RBI to secure a 4-3 win over the visiting Scots. For the nighcap, Colby Zinser extended the LC lead to 6-4 on an RBI in the sixth. The Scots brought the score to 6-5 in the top of the ninth but the Panthers held on to win. Starter Dalton Brooks pitched in four innings during game one. He finished the day striking out two batters and allowing six hits and a run. In game two, sophomore Eduardo Peralta started on the mound. In three innings pitched, he had two strikeouts and allowed two runs.

Gettysburg scored five runs in the first three inning and held off a late push by Albright to hold on for a 10-8 win. Emmanuel Ajewole hit 1.000 (2-for-2) with two runs scored, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Tyler Lizell recorded his third save in a row with a perfect ninth inning. Albright tied the game 7-all in the top of the seventh. The Lions used four hits and a Bullets' error to plate three more runs. The Bullets regained the lead in the bottom of the inning, as Ajewole was hit by a pitch and stole his second base. An Alexey Stout double brought him home. Albright scored their final run of the game in the top of the eighth on one hit and a sacrifice fly, but two runs in the bottom of the inning gave Gettysburg the 10-8 advantage going into the final half inning. Lizell retired the first three batters he saw to end the game.

Centenary (La.) opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Monday afternoon with an 8-0 victory over the University of Dallas Crusaders in game one of a doubleheader at the UD Baseball Facility. The Diamond Gents (6-8, 1-0 SCAC) snapped their five-game losing streak and improved to 5-4 on the road this season while the Crusaders fell to 12-4 and 0-1 in the SCAC. Game two of the DH is set for 3 p.m. Sophomore LHP Cody Myers started on the mound for Centenary and was superb as he went seven innings and allowed just two hits with a season and career-high 13 strikeouts to improve to 4-1 on the season. Myers' 13 K's are tied for the second-most in a single game in the division III era (2012-present). Centenary recorded its first shutout of the season and first since blanking Austin College, 13-0 in seven innings, on April 29, 2023.

Field. Babson has won its four of its last five games to
improve to 5-6 on the year. Keene State has dropped four
straight outings to fall to 4-9 overall.

Washington & Jefferson secured a sweep of Framingham State, 12-11 and 9-0. in doubleheader action Monday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in Florida. The Presidents totaled 21 runs during Monday's sweep. W&J has scored at least seven runs in five-straight games. Down to its final three outs in game one, W&J sent 11 batters to the plate and scored seven times to secure their second walk-off win of the season. The Presidents carried their momentum from game one into game two as they rolled to a victory.

The St. Lawrence Saints earned a win in walk-off fashion in game one and exploded for a nine-run third inning in game two to power the St. Lawrence to a sweep over Knox on day three of their spring break trip in Davenport, Fla. St. Lawrence won their fourth straight and saw their record improve to 5-3 on the season. Offensively, Timothy Connor had a great day going 3-for-5 with 2 walks, five RBI, and two runs scored. Sophomore catcher John Donnellan went 3-6 with a walk-off single in game one, a double, and four RBI in total on the day. In game two, John Gannon continued his hot start going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, while first-year Mike Siano chipped in two RBI with a double. On the bump, Boden Driscoll tossed five and two-thirds with two strikeouts in game one, while graduate student Teaghin Andre earned his first win at St. Lawrence by pitching one and a third with two strikeouts. In game two, Liam Hickey earned his first collegiate win spinning four innings of three-hit ball giving up just one run and striking out four.

UW-La Crosse came from behind to defeat William Paterson 5-4 Monday morning in 10th innings. Nate Witte was hit by a pitch to start the ninth inning and scored on a double by Jack Olver. After George Seaman walked, Tim Urlaub reached on a fielders choice and Olver scored on the play due to a throwing error to tie the game at 4-4. After the Eagles put the Pioneers down in order in the top of the 10th inning, Moran led off with a double and advanced to third on a groundout. The Pioneers would then intentionally walk both Witte and Olver to load the bases with one out. Vivian then hit a sacrifice fly to left field which scored Moran for the walk off win for the Eagles. Caleb Matl (2-0) pitched a perfect 10th inning including striking out two to earn his second win of the season. Tyler Schmitt got the start and went 4.0 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven. Mitchel Fassbender came on in relief of Schmitt to pitch 4.0 innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out two.

Eastern Nazarene collected a 14-13 win at Curry Monday afternoon. The Colonels leveled the contest at 13-13 with one run in the fifth. Eastern Nazarene regained control of the lead with one run in the top of the eighth inning, 14-13. O'Neil Jimenez raked a two-out single to plate Anderson Jimenez from third base for the go-ahead run. Anderson Jimenez racked up five RBIs, three hits, two runs scored, and a stolen base. O'Neil Jimenez posted three hits, two runs scored, and one RBI. Colby Rohr tossed two innings and fanned one batter in his third start on the mound. Liam Bruskewicz worked three innings of relief before Michael Monteforte hurled two scoreless frames of relief. Francis Ferguson pitched two scoreless innings and registered six strikeouts in his first appearance out of the bullpen.

Ramapo moved to 5-4 overall with a doubleheader sweep over SUNY Cobleskill, 6-5 in game one and 9-1 in game two. In the opener, Nick Danbrowney earned his first win of the season with a complete game as he struck out nine, walked just one. He surrendered ten hits in seven innings pitched and five runs scored. in game two, Ramapo scored five early runs in game two with three in the first and two in the second for a 5-0 lead. James Pazdera (2-0) worked five complete innings to earn the win on the mound for Ramapo. He struck out five, walked three and surrendered just three hits and one run. Wesley Pierorazio and Will Kennedy each worked one inning of relief for Ramapo. They did not give up a hit or a run in the sixth and seventh innings while each of them recorded two strikeouts.

Plattsburgh State traveled out of state on Monday and defeated Penn State Berks 11-3 as they had 17 hits over nine innings. Nick Cergol, Daniel Novelli, and Alex Kornblau each had three hits, with Cergol blasting a two-run homer in the eighth. Cergol also scored three times to go along with his three hits and a two-run shot, while Novelli had a two-run double and scored two runs. Kornblau continued his torrid stretch with another three-hit performance, as he also drove in a run. Conner Gonzalski was on base four times with a double, triple, and two walks, and Ben Catrambone had two hits and two RBI for Plattsburgh. Dylan Bass earned his second win of the season with five solid innings of work, allowing just four hits and two earned runs while striking out three batters. Logan Avin, Nick Goldberg, and Matt Edwards each registered scoreless appearances out of the bullpen, with Avin going two innings, to follow Bass' strong effort.

Pomona-Pitzer defeated Division I opponent Dartmouth in a single-game series 9-3 on Monday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Sagehens had five multi-hit performances including JC Ng who led the team with a perfect 3-3 game with three runs scored. Isaac Kim, Greg Pierantoni, Nate Jakobs, and Jack Gold all had two hits as well with Pierantoni picking up four RBI in the win and Jakobs with his sixth home run of the season. Harry Deliyannis got the start and the win to improve to 1-1 on the year after five complete innings with two runs, one earned, and two strikeouts before the game was delayed due to lightning. Jack Wiessinger came on for two innings of relief work and Prough ended the game with the final inning.

UW-Stevens Point (2-3) got a career-high five RBI from Trent Van Ess in an 11-7 victory over Amherst (2-2). Van Ess hit one of UWSP's two home runs in the game, a three-run shot in the fourth that cushioned the Pointers' early lead. He had two hits and a walk on the day. Bradley Comer belted the other UWSP home run and had three hits. He drove in two and scored three runs. Matt Baumann and Anthony Tomczak each recorded two hits and both scored three runs. Casey Pickering earned the win on the hill with 5.0 in the start. Tyler Beyer picked up the save firing the final 4.0. He struck out three.

Seth Goodrich tossed 6.1 innings and Isaiah Lemke threw 2.2 hitless innings to give the Eagles a series clinching 4-1 win in game three on Monday. Goodrich allowed just one run and struck out two to receive the win. Lemke notched the save with an outstanding performance out of the pen. The Eagles' offense backed the pitching duo with a pair of runs in the first and two more in the eighth. In the first frame, Isaac Price doubled in Cole Clark and Ethan Cash singled in Price. The Comets scratched across a run in the seventh, but the Eagles produced four hits in the eighth. Juan Munoz singled in a run and Nicholas Bennett doubled in another to cap the Eagles scoring. Lemke closed the door in the eighth by retiring the side. In the ninth, the Comets got one runner on base as a result of an error, but Lemke worked his way out of the jam with a groundout, strikeout and another groundout. Munoz and Bennett each had two hits. "Seth had a great start and Lemke did a great job coming in to close the door," said head coach Aaron Gentry. "Our offense had quality at bats with runners in scoring position. It was a great team win against a quality opponent today."
