Bethany Lutheran hosted Minnesota Morris for the two teams series finale on Tuesday afternoon and the Vikings came away with a 12-8 victory. With the win BLC moves to 18-11 on the year and 15-3 in conference play while the Cougars fall to 11-22 overall and 6-12 in the UMAC.

The #3 seed Ramapo College Roadrunners scored early and used a late comeback to earn the win in the NJAC Tournament first round game over #4 seed Rutgers-Camden University. Ramapo scored two runs in the first inning when Jack Tallenet came home on a bases loaded passed ball before Matt Lalomia drove in Zack Bailey with a sac fly, 2-0. In the bottom of the eighth, Ramapo looked to score an insurance run when Swartout worked a leadoff walk and moved to second on a sac bunt from Tyler Guadagno. The Scarlet Raptors would hold the Roadrunner lead to just one by getting out of the jam with-back to-back flyouts. Gerard Chiricolo, who entered the game in the top of the eighth inning on the mound for Ramapo, made short work of the Scarlet Raptors in the ninth. He induced a line out and back-to-back strikeouts to end the game and preserve the 7-6 victory. James Pazdera started on the mound for the Roadrunners as he struck out seven, walked two and surrendered five hits and four runs (three earned) in 5.2 innings of work. Billy Scanlon earned the win in relief for his first win of the season. He worked 1.1 innings with three strikeouts, one walk while he let up just two hits and no runs scored. Chiricolo earned his first save of the season as he did not give up a hit in the final two complete innings while he struck out three and walked two.

Tyler Cannon and Anthony Schooley had three hits each, and righthander Mike Shannon went eight innings to earn the win, as fifth-seeded Rowan (25-11) held on for an 8-6 win over second-seeded Kean in the opening round of the NJAC Championship. The double-elimination tournament moves to Rutgers-Camden for the weekend with the #21 Profs set to take on third-seeded Ramapo, on Friday at 7 p.m. Shannon (7-2) went 8.0 innings and struck out three, allowing three runs. It marked the third straight game in which the senior threw eight or more innings, while it was his fourth straight victory. Cannon was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, including two doubles to run his Rowan career record to 59. Schooley went 3-for-4 and scored twice while Karson Harcourt and Marco Mannino scored two runs apiece. Kean threatened in the ninth inning, scoring three runs, but Sean Colbert was able to keep the Cougars at bay, as he got a ground out to Cannon for the game's final out.

TCNJ went on the road and beat top-seeded Stockton in the first round of the NJAC tournament on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 7-5. The Lions (22-15) went down three runs early but clawed back and came up with some big hits to take down the Ospreys (22-16). Stockton got out to an early lead in the first inning with three straight two-out hits to take a 3-0 advantage. In the top of the third, Ryan Goodall crushed his fourth homer of the season over the left field fence after a Chris Reeder walk to cut the Stockton lead to a run. TCNJ tied it up in the top of the fifth with two runs on two hits and took their first lead in the top of the seventh on a Michael Schumacher single. After a scoreless eighth, TCNJ rallied for two runs in the top half of the ninth inning to take a 7-5 lead. Joe Ferreri was terrific in his two innings of work, earning the win after allowing no runs on one hit, no walks, and a strikeout to push the Lions forward to Friday with a win.

 

No. 3 nationally-ranked Denison University won its final two North Coast Athletic Conference games of the 2024 season, sweeping Oberlin College 14-4 in eight innings in game one and 12-2 also in eight innings in game two on Tuesday. With the two wins, Denison clinches at least a share of the NCAC regular-season championship. In the opener, the Big Red scored their 14 runs on 16 total and eight extra-base hits. Five Denison players had at least two hits, led by Welsch with a 3-for-4 effort featuring three doubles. the Offense ruled again in game two as 10 of Denison's 13 hits in game two were extra base hits. The Big Red are the first team in the NCAC to reach 13 conference wins this season and are tied in the loss column with Wittenberg University (22-15, 11-3), which loss 13-3 in its first game on Tuesday against third-place DePauw University (21-14, 10-4).

Trailing the defending national champions by a run with just three outs left to play, tenth-ranked Christopher Newport put on an electric ninth-inning showcase to rally past the University of Lynchburg on the road Tuesday afternoon, 13-5. The Captains scored ten runs in the final frame to capture a season sweep against the non-conference foe while improving to 24-8 overall. Six Captains finished with multi-hit performances as CNU scored 13 runs on 15 total hits in the game. Lincoln Lubsen highlighted the effort with his team-leading seventh home run and five RBI, running his total to 44 for the season. He had three hits, all for extra bases, and improved his slugging percentage to .611 on the season. The 10-run ninth inning marked the second time this season that CNU scored double-digits in an inning against the Hornets after recording 11 runs in the first inning of the game at Captains Park in early April.

Senior Jack Julian produced a two-run single in the top of the seventh and four pitchers combined on a four-hitter to help visiting Babson College defeat Wheaton College, 2-1, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Sidell Stadium. Babson, which has won two in a row and six of its last seven games, improves to 22-10 overall and 10-4 in conference play. Wheaton has dropped five of its last seven outings to slip to 17-12 overall and 10-6 in the NEWMAC. Graduate student Luke Tanner and juniors Walter Sadowsky and Justin Guest all finished with two hits apiece for the Beavers. First-year Jason Finkelstein gave up one run on three hits to go along with four strikeouts over 6.1 innings to improve to 6-1 with the win, while sophomore Zander Teator worked perfect ninth to earn his third save. First-year Casey Wensley was 2-for-4 with an RBI single, while senior Mike Maher singled and walked for the Lyons. Junior Josh Fischer struck out five and allowed just one run on five hits over 6.0 innings but fell to 0-4 on the year with the loss.

Sophomore Liam Flynn worked a four pitch in the 10th inning as Nichols College topped Western New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference play on Tuesday afternoon. Nichols topped the Golden Bears 8-7 for the win at the Nichols Baseball Field. Graduate student Will Kleinhenz, senior Andrew Croteau, and junior William Nath all tallied three hits for the Bison. Croteau also added three RBI to lead the way for the Bison. After a single from Croteau, Nath doubled in Croteau, for a 7-2 Bison lead. The Golden Bears did not go away and scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning, to even the score at 7-7. This game was headed for extra innings. Senior Johnny Knox singled to open the bottom of the 10th inning and Hyde was then hit by a pitch to put runners n first and second. Senior Kelvin Gutierrez also walked to load the bases. Flynn then battered and on four pitches, earned a walk and scored Knox for the 8-7 win over the Golden Bears.

SUNY Brockport shutout Keuka College 9-0 in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Eagles jumped out with four runs in the first and two in the second for the early advantage. They added three in the fourth to cap the scoring in the game. Brockport brought out a parade of pitchers with six getting atleast one inning in the game. Tyler Pohlman was credited with the win with two perfect innings in which five went down on strikes. The Golden Eagle starter, Colin Pytlaki was nearly aas good with one walk and seven strikouts in 3.0 innings pitched.

First-year southpaw Alvy Grullon spun a gem on Tuesday afternoon, notching his first career complete game as John Jay posted a 5-1 road triumph at Manhattanville. With the win, the Bloodhounds snapped a five-game losing streak to move to 14-20 overall while the Valiants fall to 17-19 on the season. Grullon, making his fifth start of the season, earned his second win of the year as the Bronx, NY native went the distance, as he didn't walk a batter and only gave up a run on six hits. Grullon struck out four batters in his first career complete game. Ryan Cherichella led the way at the plate for the visitors, going 2 for 5 with two RBIs. Jaxen Gangwish, Santo Anzalone, and Hayden Tackett also drove in a run. Axel Kappes III matched Cherichella with two hits and scored two runs in the victory. Jake Parisi led the Valiants with two hits. Justin Encarnacion, Anthony Mezzaucella, Marco Clara, and Ryan Osso all had a hit with Clara driving in the lone RBI for the home team.

DePauw topped Wittenberg, 13-3, in the opening game of its North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader at Wittenberg, but the hosts came back for a 15-0 win in seven innings in the nightcap to earn the split. DePauw moved to 21-14 overall and 10-4 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg is 22-15 overall and 11-3 in conference play. Hunter Hrbek and Carter Knoll each had three of DePauw's 13 hits with Hrbek driving in five. The second game was scoreless until Wittenberg scored three in the third, seven in the fourth and five in the fifth for the win. Four different Tigers collected one hit each while six Wittenberg players had two hits each as the hosts totaled 13.

Five pitchers combined on an eight-hitter with 14 strikeouts in Eastern Connecticut State University's 6-2 Little East Conference victory over Western Connecticut State University Tuesday afternoon at Westside Field. Having lost six of its previous eight following a 21-5 start, No. 23 Eastern (24-11, 11-3 LEC) took a 6-0 lead into the sixth inning and went on to its 17th straight win over WestConn (5-25, 1-13). Sitting third in the conference following Saturday's two home losses to the University of Massachusetts Boston (24-12, 13-3 LEC), the Warriors close out their conference season Friday with a noon doubleheader at LEC leader University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (20-15-1, 12-2 LEC). An Eastern sweep of the Corsairs would leave the Warriors with a share of the LEC regular-season championship with UMass Boston, but Eastern would defer to the Beacons as the No. 1 seed based upon its two losses this past Saturday to UMB. A sweep by UMass Dartmouth over Eastern Saturday would give the Corsairs the regular-season title and No. 1 seed while a split would make UMass Dartmouth and UMass Boston co-champions. In the case of an Eastern-UMD split Saturday, unofficially, UMass Boston would earn the No. 1 seed based upon splitting the season series with UMass Dartmouth and sweeping Eastern.

MSOE continued to keep their bats hot all day long over in Wauwatosa as they cruised to two easy victories, 17-3 and 10-2, over Wisconsin Lutheran College. MSOE (23-11, 17-5 NACC) sent the message early in game one after loading the bases on the first three batters bringing all three to score for a quick 3-0 lead. Two more runs came in the second inning when Sam Meidenbauer doubled into left center and one more came in the third from Jack Kalitowski to put the Raiders up big 6-0 after three. Game two had a quieter approach, despite the Raiders scoring two runs in the first from Micha Overley and Nolan Wojciechowski. The Raiders began to run away in the seventh inning when Blake Hall cleared the bases on a double down the line before AJ Le got in on the action to take a 9-0 lead. Overley capped things off with his second home run of the day to finish off the Warriors 10-2.

Senior left-hander Logan Exler helped Westminster (Pa.) wrap up a 2-1 non-conference victory over Mount Aloysius College Tuesday afternoon, allowing three hits while striking out four and walking none in six scoreless. Exler improved to 2-3 with the win, needing just 53 pitches to get through six innings. Tyler Quade smacked a two-out single in the first and had a leadoff bunt single in the fourth before Tyler Weber's leadoff single in the fifth. Sophomore lefty Thomas Simon and junior right-hander Dwight Parker threw scoreless seventh and eighth innings, respectively. After a leadoff single to Ryan Bushey, Brandon Cook tripled to left field off senior righty Trevor Leighty to cut the lead to 2-1. Leighty retired the next three batters in order to earn his first collegiate save. Junior shortstop Braeden Campbell went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Senior first baseman Jake Dockum went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base. In the first, Campbell scored on a throwing error before Dockum's double to left scored senior center fielder Matthew Randza, who was hit by a pitch after Campbell walked to lead off the game. Tyler Quade went 2-for-4 for Mount Aloysius.

Ripon brought its hot-hitting to Stevens Point after a 17-run outburst at home on Monday, taking down the host Pointers 12-9 on Tuesday afternoon at Zimmermann Field. The win was the Red Hawks' first over a WIAC opponent in almost five years to the day – a 3-1 win at #16 UW-Whitewater on May 1, 2019. UWSP got solo runs in the eighth and ninth innings, but Peace slammed the door on the Pointers to give the Red Hawks a signature non-conference win. Nick Terrell had a career day at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three RBI and a pair of runs scored. Gabrielk Zielinski (3-for-4, RBI, run, walk) and Eli DiCarlo (3-for-4, RBI, 2 run) also had three-hit games as Ripon pounded out 15 hits as a team. On the mound, five pitchers saw action, while Matthew Stuczynski picked up his first win of the season after throwing two innings of three-hit ball, surrendering just one earned run with two punchouts.

Clark University (21-16, 5-9 NEWMAC) played WPI (19-13-1, 7-7 NEWMAC) in their final road game of the season and used a 10-run third inning to come away with a 16-3 win over the Engineers in seven innings from the New England Baseball Complex. Sophomore Brayden Hollinrake and first-year Michael Salzillo each drove in runs in the top of the first to give Clark an early 2-0 lead. WPI scored a run in both the first and second inning before the Cougars scored 10 runs in the top of the third as Hollinrake belted a two-run homer to left field, graduate student Ryan Caulfield drove in a pair of runs, sophomore Dom Mariani tallied two RBI's, and Salzillo scored on a wild pitch to take a 12-2 advantage. Senior Maxwell Gitlin tossed a scoreless third inning and in the top of the fourth, Clark scored four runs as junior Carter Doran doubled home two runs, sophomore Michael Soares, and Hollinrake also recorded RBI's as the Cougars took a 16-2 lead. Graduate student Benjamin Spencer pitched a scoreless fourth, sophomore Matthew Donahue allowed no runs in the fifth, senior Cory Giannelli and first-year Brendan Bruun also allowed no earned runs in their innings pitched to close the game.

SUNY Oswego hosted the number two team of the Liberty League East, the University of Rochester Yellowjackets. The Lakers scored early and never looked back securing a non-conference win over the Yellowjackets, 6-2. Sean Dertinger got the start on the mound for the Lakers. He threw three complete innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out four. In the bottom of the first, Daniel Winchester singled and stole second. He scored when Owen Parliament doubled to left field. Tishawn Featherstone was hit by a pitch and then CJ McCarthy mashed a three-run home run giving the Lakers a four-run lead. Next to pitch was Matt Drillings who went two complete innings without allowing a run and striking out two. The Yellowjackets scored one run in the top of the second and the Lakers finally answered in the bottom of the 6th. CJ McCarthy walked, and Jacob Levine crushed a two-run home run to center field increasing the Laker lead to 6-1. Richie Paul and Grant Biederman combined to throw three innings and allow four hits and one run. Jonah Shearer came in to close out Rochester in the ninth and struck out two of the three batters he faced.

Aurora University stayed on the road for another Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader, their final one of the 2024 regular season against the Eagles of Edgewood College on Tuesday afternoon. After falling behind early in game one, AU came back for a 7-4 victory, before taking game two by a score of 9-6. Nik Pancio joined the home run party in game one in the seventh with his 11th home run of the year. This increased the AU lead to 7-4. Joey Pettit would finish off the Eagles 1-2-3 in the seventh to complete the 7-4 game one victory for AU. Pettit finished with three scoreless innings pitched out of the bullpen for the Spartans with five strikeouts. Edgewood scored one run in their half of the eighth of the nightcap, but that was as close as the Eagles would get in the 9-6 game two AU victory. Jack Fisher would strike out the side for AU in the ninth and earn the save.

Salve Regina University finished off a sweep of their NCAA Division III in-state brethren with a 9-4 victory over visiting Roger Williams University in non-league action at Reynolds Field on Tuesday afternoon. A five-run rally for the Seahawks (30-5, 12-2 NEWMAC) in the sixth made a winner out of starter Brayden Clark who allowed just one run in six innings while striking out nine Hawks (22-10-1, 8-4 CCC). After going down 1-0 in the top of the sixth, Salve Regina got back-to-back RBI doubles from Christian Homa and Hunter Yaworski to take the lead. Tyler Petrosino and Brady Smolinski both followed with RBI fielder's choice grounders for a 4-1 advantage. Nate Ruehs added a fifth run when he doubled home Smolinski. Senior centerfielder Brandon Grover singled in Homa in the seventh. Yaworski drove in his second run of the game in the eighth. Pinch-runner Matt Stokes later crossed the plate on a passed ball before third baseman Wil McCarthy doubled down the right-field line to score pinch-runner Shane Williams.

Suffolk capped off its six-game homestand with its ninth win in a row, a 12-1, seven-inning triumph over Gordon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Tuesday afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park. A one-run double by Jack Mihalchik pushed the blue-and-gold on the board in the bottom of the second. A five-run Rams' third inning padded Suffolk's advantage to 6-0. Gordon got on the board in the top of the fourth but the Rams made up that ground and then some in home half of the inning. Offensive output continued into the fifth as the Rams pilled on three more runs on bases loaded walks to extend the edge to 12-1. With the mercy-rule turned on, Cam Martin came in to take over the hill for Garret Roberts in the top of the seventh. Andrew Hartman and Joey Kazlauskas managed to get two quick hits off the Rams reliever. Those knocks were followed up by a pair of loud outs to right that Iorio gloved. Blake drew a full-count walk to juice the bases, which brought up McIntyre. McIntyre popped up to Gilbride at short to seal the run-rule victory for Suffolk.

Junior Liam DeRubertis recorded a grand slam in game one, while the team scored four runs in the eighth of game two, as Stevens Institute of Technology defeated St. Joseph's Long Island 14-13 in game one and 5-1 (F/8) in game two Tuesday night in a non-conference doubleheader to wrap up the regular season. Sophomore Jonah Swarts (1-0) earned his first career win in game one. He pitched five innings and allowed three runs on five hits. He struck out a career-high six batters. Junior Joe Gonzalez (2-0) earned the win in game two. He pitched two innings and gave up just three hits. First-year Garret Wolf started and pitched six innings and gave up just one run. Junior Matt Villapiano pitched the final inning and gave up just one hit and had a strike out. The Ducks (24-14) ended the regular season with two victories. The Ducks close out their non-conference slate with a record of 12-5. With the victories today, Stevens evens the series with the Golden Eagles, as each team is 10-10 all-time. St. Joseph's Long Island currently has a record of 26-10 with four regular season games remaining.
