AUBURNDALE, FL - The Farmingdale State baseball team has won three of its first four games at the RussMatt Invitational in Auburndale, Florida to start their spring break trip, including the sixth no-hitter in program history.
Saturday, March 15
The Rams faced Illinois Institute of Technology in their opening game and fell, 13-3.
FSC trailed 2-0 in the fifth inning before senior outfielder Justin DiMartino (Bethpage, N.Y.) hit a game-tying home run to make it a 2-2 game.
Farmingdale State took the lead in the seventh on a two-out RBI triple by senior second baseman Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.), but Illinois put up six runs in the bottom of the inning and five more in the eighth to secure the run-rule win.
McGuggart finished with two hits, while freshman shortstop Kaolis Delacruz (Levittown, N.Y.) contributed two hits, a walk and one stolen base.
Sunday, March 16
FSC swept SUNY Plattsburgh on Sunday, holding them to just one hit in 14 innings.
In game one, junior starting pitcher Derek Torres (Massapequa, N.Y. - W, 1-1, 7.0 IP, 1 H, 4 SO) threw a complete game, allowing just one hit in the first inning. The Rams tallied runs on a McGuggart ground out and an infield single by junior Christopher Sais (Hicksville, N.Y.) as they earned the 2-1 victory.
The Rams made history in game two, throwing just the sixth no-hitter in program history. Senior Roman Dorosh (Holbrook, N.Y. - 4 SO) tossed 3.2 no-hit innings before a lightning delay ended his night. Sophomore Dennis Kelly (North Babylon, N.Y. - 5 SO) came on following the delay and completed 3.1 innings to preserve the no-hitter and secure a 1-0 victory.
The only run of the game came in the fourth inning on an RBI fielder's choice by freshman infielder Tyler Diez (Levittown, N.Y.).

In their fourth game of the trip, FSC posted a dominant 11-0 run-rule win over Vassar College.
Junior Derek Watts (Baldwin, N.Y.) extended the Rams' shutout streak to 20 straight innings, firing a complete game (7.0 IP, 4 H, 6 SO).
Junior catcher Ryan Plocker (Dix Hills, N.Y.) led the offense with a pair of home runs. He became just the seventh player in program history to record a multi-home run game, registering a three-run shot in the second and a two-run homer in the fifth. Junior center fielder Richie Heyder (Holbrook, N.Y.) went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a career-high four runs batted in.
Farmingdale State has three more games remaining in Florida and will next face Wooster on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport.
