Tufts University began their season with a strong 2-0 win against Brandeis on Wednesday afternoon at Sol Gittleman Park. Emmet Christian got the ball to start his college career and started strong on the mound. The rookie hurler demonstrated his control with the breaking ball and a strong fastball that saw four Judges strike out in two innings. Christian ended his collegiate debut with a win after four complete innings of work, while limiting the Judges to just one hit. The strong debut set the tone of the day for the Jumbos (1-0, 0-0 NESCAC). They took very little time in producing their first run of the season. The Tufts offense continued to look solid, if a bit unlucky. They were making solid contact in most of their at bats, striking out only four times total. They would leave six runners stranded by the end of the game, three fewer than the nine runners left on base by Brandeis. The game was bookended by first year pitchers, as freshman Lachlan Ellis took the ball in the ninth. The rookie displayed a lively fastball with a big sweeping curveball to mix it up, and he struck out a batter en route to a trouble-free final inning of opening day.

Junior infielder Chase Bourgeois hit a 10th inning walk-off single to give Texas Lutheran a 6-5 win over Howard Payne on Wednesday at Katt-Isbel Field. The Bulldogs (8-4) trailed 5-4 in the ninth inning before Caleb Small scored on a Howard Payne wild pitch to tie the game up 5-5 and send it into extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th inning, the Bulldogs quickly recorded two outs before Chance Greene was hit by a pitch and Aidan Spires and Mason Goudeau wit infield singles to the shortstop to load the bases. Chase Bourgeois came through with the game-winner with a single to right center. Bourgeois finished 3-for-6 with a triple and two RBI.

Max Kneidinger struck out eight and only allowed four hits over six innings to record his first win of the season. In the opener, the Panthers cut the deficit to one in the top of the fifth before Clark exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 15-7. In the bottom of the sixth, six more runs came home for the Cougars. Sophomore Jacob Kline closed out his three-inning shutout in relief by allowing no more runs in the top of the seventh as the Cougars prevailed 22-7 in game one. Clark needed fome of those game one runs in the nightcap. Pitt-Greenberg led 3-1 entering the fifth. First-year Cole Camara stole home in the top of the fifth to bring the Cougars within a run at 3-2 before Nicholas Laubach belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth in the final at-bat of the game to give the Panthers the win.

Aurora has had John Carroll's number in the last couple of years, but not Wednesday. The Spartans swept the Blue Streaks in the 2023 NCAA Regional and dealt JCU two losses last year in Florida. On Wednesday afternoon, John Carroll Baseball secured some semblance of revenge. The Blue Streaks walked off Aurora at Winter Haven's Chain of Lakes Park in a 7-6 conquest. John Carroll is now 4-1 on the young season. Hitting in the unfamiliar #6 spot in the lineup, Erik Daugenti battered the Spartans not once, but twice. Leading off in the eight, the Saint Ignatius product came around to score on a George Haracz single, tying the game at six apiece. After a 1-2-3 CJ Desmond ninth, JCU got a chance at glory in the bottom of the frame. An Aurora error got Ethan Glossa aboard with 1 out. After he stole second, Glossa dashed to third on a Patrick Sherman single. So, with two outs, Daugenti promptly slapped a single to score Glossa and earn a 7-6 walkoff win. Graduate student Joey DiNorcia would get the first hit for UMSV, a double that drove in junior Josh McCormick. The Dolphins continued their strong offensive play, scoring in the second, third, and fourth innings. The Dolphins finished the game with a total of 10 hits, but also impressed on the defensive side playing error-free in the final three innings and preventing the home team from mounting a late comeback. Strong pitching also contributed to UMSV's success with juniors Michael Iocco and Luke Buyes on the mound, along with freshman Joseph Santos, who earned his first collegiate win.

Methodist University hosted Johnson & Wales University of Providence, Rhode Island, in a non-conference game, as the Monarchs took advantage of a poor defensive Wildcats team and won the contest by a score of 10–4. Both teams recorded their first runs of the ballgame in the second inning. Following a Henry Melanson double, Yedan Diaz smacked a base hit back up the middle to drive in the opening run for Johnson & Wales.
