The opening game of the 2018 D-III World Series came with their opening jitters with errors for both teams in the first inning. The defenses settled in and Texas-Tyler had the answer for every thing Oswego State threw at them in a 10-5 win for the Patriots. Blake Maddox's home run to left provided the winning run and Graham Welch's ended any comeback.

Randolph-Macon got plenty of baserunners, but couldn't do anything with them. The Misericordia pitching staff stranded 14 Yellow Jackets on the bases as the Cougars came away with the 4-2 victory.
In Bracket 2, Concordia-Chicago uncharacteristically jumped out early on its opponent, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first before Swarthmore could even get acclimated to the Division III World Series. The Cougars scored three in the first, two in the fourth and three in the sixth in putting the Garnet away 9-4. Joe Silva went 3-for-5 with five runs batted in and the bottom two batters in the CUC order, Connor Brandon and Keegan Tyrell, went a combined 5-for-7 with two RBI in the win.
The night was capped off with an amazing complete game performance from Texas Lutheran ace Nathan Malinovsky, the D3baseball.com West Region Pitcher of the Year, as the junior threw a four-hit shutout in defeating Wooster 7-0. Tyler Cauley led the barrage with five of TLU's seven RBI, including a three-run homer as the Bulldogs jumped out to a lead in the top of the firs.
The threat of rain tailed off and we played all four games without disruption.
