MARSHALL, Texas - In their final season as a member of the American Southwest Conference, the Concordia Texas baseball team won the ASC Tournament Championship with a 9-0 victory over UT Dallas. Chris Morrow notched his fourth homerun of the tournament and Zach Seigrist (seven RBIs) also went yard at Woods Field on Championship Sunday.

Morrow got the Tornados on the scoreboard with his solo shot in the top of the third. Later in the inning, the Tornados loaded the bases. Colby Christian then scored on a wild pitch, and Kalen Clark scored on a Seigrist walk.

CTX then made it a 5-0 game in the fifth when Seigrist cranked a two-run homer (Brandon Goynes) to right field. Seigrist then tallied his fourth RBI of the game with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch for a 6-0 advantage in the sixth.

Threatening to score, the Comets loaded the bases with only one out in the bottom of the seventh. Working the count, Mason Brandenberger would force a fly out and pop up to leave the frame unscathed. Seigrist put on the finishing touches with a three-run torpedo to left center for a 9-0 advantage going into the final inning. The Tornados would then keep on rolling to the secure the conference title.

Concordia Texas will now wait to see where they will head for the NCAA Regionals. The selection show will be next Monday, May 13th on ncaa.com.
