FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The 2025 USA South Baseball Tournament has come to an end on the campus of Methodist University. The host, and top-seeded, Monarchs claimed the program's fourth all-time tournament title, their first since 2013, with a 10-5 victory over second-seeded Greensboro in the second game of the best-of-three championship series.
As the visiting team on the scoreboard, Methodist struck first in the top of the second inning on a single by Ethan Golemo. Greensboro tied things up when Louis Berini singled home a run in the third inning. After the Monarchs took a one-run lead in the top of the fifth inning, the Pride plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth frame thanks to a Rush Bowman single and a Chris Le hit by pitch with the bases loaded. Methodist quickly responded in the following half inning by scoring four runs capped by a Tristen Melvin two-run single to take a 6-4 lead. The Monarchs would not look back and add four more insurance runs on their way to the championship.
Golemo was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, two RBI, and one walk for the Monarchs while Melvin and Brandon Mauger also each tallied two RBI. For the Pride, Berini, Bowman and Evan Sykes each had two hits to lead the offense.
On the mound, Brandon Humphreys earned the victory out of the bullpen for Methodist by tossing one and two-thirds scoreless innings with one strikeout. Chase Carroll earned the save by closing things out over the final one and two-thirds innings.
