More news about: Millsaps

In game one with Rhodes, the Majors scored four runs in the bottom half of the eleventh inning to take a 12-11 win from the Lynx.

The Majors (2-0) jumped on the Lynx (0-2) early, scoring two in the first, but Rhodes led for most of the game thanks to a six-run second. It took Millsaps til the bottom of the seventh to pull ahead. Wes Perkins tied the score at seven with a single that brought Jules Roussel home. Trey Roundtree put the Majors up with a sac fly on the next at bat, bringing in Will Hawkins.

Rhodes forced extra innings with a run in the top of the ninth and looked like they were going to come away with the win after plating three runs in the top of the eleventh. But the Majors answered with four of their own in the home half to secure the win. A leadoff double from Ryan Zemke put runners in scoring position early. He scored on an Andrew Evans' single after stealing third to cut the deficit to two. Will Elmore drove in the winning two runs with a single to the right-center gap to set the score at 12-11, ending the game.

Game two saw the Majors taking on the Ozarks Eagles in the second game of the day for both teams. Ozarks (1-1) defeated Berry College in the 11:00 game at Smith-Wills Stadium, 7-6 also in extra innings. The Majors took care of business from the start in the encore, scoring ten runs in the first two innings to bury the Eagles.

Will Hawkins got the offense rolling in the first with a monster, three-run, blast to right center. The Majors sent 13 to the plate in the frame with seven hits and seven runs to show. The fireworks continued into the third, this time from Jules Roussel. The junior sent the ball deep over the right field fence to put Millsaps up 11-4.

The Majors scored two in the sixth, three in the seventh, and two more in the eighth to end the game with the ten-run rule.

Will Hawkins led the offense with six RBI's off four hits in the two games. Drew Leonard had the best single-game performance with four RBI's off four hits against Ozarks. Alex Granier got the win in relief for the tenth and eleventh innings of game one. Starter Elliot Varney got the nod in game two in four innings of work.

The Majors will return to the diamond this Wednesday as they travel up Lakeland Drive to take on Belhaven Unversity at Smith-Wills Stadium at 6:00 p.m.
