FERRUM, Va. -- Roanoke jumped out to a 4-2 lead after three innings and held on for a 10-8 non-conference baseball win over Ferrum this afternoon at Panther Field. In the top of the third inning, Roanoke's Jacob Clifton doubled to left field, driving in a pair of runs, then scored when Robbie Scott's single was bobbled in center field. Clifton, Scott and Zack Connor each had a pair of base hits for Roanoke (1-0). Jason Parker, Paul Jaglowski and Sammy Holloway had two hits each for Ferrum (1-1). Mark Wimmer earned the win for Roanoke, throwing three innings in relief and allowing four hits, four runs and a pair of walks, while striking out two. Starter Brandon West absorbed the loss for the Panthers. West pitched 2.2 innings, allowing four runs and three walks, and striking out two.
