LANCASTER, Pa. – Mike Duranti struck out seven and allowed just two earned runs to lead Franklin & Marshall to an 8-3 victory over Gettysburg in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action Tuesday afternoon.

Duranti  (2-2) worked 8 2/3  innings allowing just four hits. He retired 17 straight batters from the end of the first through the sixth inning to earn the victory.

Avery Attinson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two more batted in to pace the Diplomats. Mike Amabile finished 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI.

The game was close through the first six innings with the Diplomats holding a 2-1 edge going into the seventh. F&M (10-10, 2-1 CC) scored three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to pull away for the victory.

Gettysburg  (7-11, 1-2 CC) scored first with a run in the first frame. The Bullets had the bases loaded before Duranti got out of the inning with double play.  He tossed five perfect innings through the sixth.

The Diplomats answered with a run in the first to tie the game and took the lead for good with a run in the third. Matt Will had a part in both runs, scoring the one in the first and hitting a sacrifice fly in the third to plate Avery Attinson.

F&M broke open the game with three scores in the seventh.  Russell Tischler led off with a double and Aaron Gillette, pinch running, scored on a one-out single from Attinson.  An infield single by J.T. Triantos and a throwing error allowed Alex Vescera and Attinson to cross the plate for the other two runs in the inning.

Eric Bornstein led off the eighth with a single and quickly crossed home with a double to left field by Amabile.  Gillette moved Amabile to third with a bunt and he scored on ground out to second by Patrick Andrews.  Attinson brought Gillette home with a single to left field for the Diplomats' final run of the frame.

Gettysburg had the tying run on deck with two outs in the ninth, but Brendan McCreary came on to record a two-pitch save, ending the game on a groundout to first.

Brett Norton (1-3) took the loss for Gettysburg. Norton worked 6.1 innings and allowed one earned run.

F&M will face the Bullets again on Friday at Gettysburg. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
